Happy Monday all! I thought it would be fun to share a behind-the-scenes photo of me filming the video recipe of my natural deodorant. When I was developing the recipes for my soaps, I had this colour coded vision: pastel pink, green and yellow. For me zero waste had to inspire simplicity first of all. These colours seemed so perfect and also came from natural clays and herb infusions only! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What colour/s makes you think of zero waste living?

Very berry soap cake I haven't made soap cake in a long time! Should I bring them back? I think they're an awesome gift! They can be a little awkward to use in the shower if you don't cut them up, but I always use them as hand soap, and they're a great gimmick to get kids to wash their hands!

I almost always take photos of full loaves before I slice them. The urge to take this step is strong and perhaps it’s a way for me to procrastinate a little? There is something very final about slicing a soap, and I look forward to that too; seeing how the design inside looks. I guess I like to savour each step. . . P U R E - Maple Mountain artisan soap my entry this month's @soapchallengeclub "Food & Drink" challenge. Inspired by Ken’s @fademasterfade1 famous banana pancakes (they are sooooo good; I could eat a mountain of them!). Swipe ⬅️ for more images. . . 100% natural & vegan. Made with banana, @traderjoes coconut cream, maple syrup, ground walnut, vanilla EO, colloidal oatmeal, cinnamon, turmeric, cardamon, annatto extract and a full water substitution for coconut water. (Obligatory selfie of me drinking the coconut water included.) The coconut water turned pink when the lye was added but settled into an orange colour – so fascinating! . . The combined weight of banana purée + coconut cream was 120 g - just over 1/8 of the weight of oils, which were 900 g. The banana purée was cooked slightly before adding it to the soap. . . The mini banana slices were made from soap dough which was created first. The white of the banana was achieved with kaolin clay. The details were then moulded and carved by hand, and painted using annatto extract and cinnamon. . . Benefits of Banana: . Rich in moisture, vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants including: . • Potassium > Hydrates. • B-vitamins > Fight free radicals. • Vitamin A > Heals & fades scars & dark spots. • Zinc > Fights acne. • Vitamin C > Supports collagen production. I made the NEW Patchouli scented soap today! Can't beleive how fast it flys off the shelves!! It smells amazing and is made with hints of Spearmint and I tried something new to the Essential Oil blend. I added a small % of Cedarwood and Oak Moss because together they work as a fixative to retain the scent. I learned this from the professionals so let's hope it works . This bar smells so good I wouldn't want you not to be able to smell it after its cured . Introducing Ukee artisan soap inspired by the Wild Pacific coastline of Ucluelet (pronounced you-KLEW-let) located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
