One of my favorite parts of photography is getting to meet and work with new people. . Here’s the first from my shoot with @gabriellagraz_ earlier this week. . Shot with the Nikon Z6, 135mm sigma art using the FTZ adapter. Lit with the trusty xplor600pro and 34” glow beauty dish.

I spy with my little eye... a beautiful scene ft. a symbol of God’s promise!! I literally almost walked right by it until my friend pointed the rainbow out to us. HOW NEAT!! Some fellows camping up there even told us that we had just missed some crazy rain... yet we had such a stunning set up! it’s cool to see how God works! // check out Genesis 9:16 :)

The thing about social media is that it is the highlights of the highlight reel. I remarked to a friend the other day that people only see about 1% of my life, maybe even less than that, on social media. You see a beautiful couple with a stormy sunset behind them. You didn't see the rain that poured for literally 20 mins while I waited in my car for the couple (I got there super early). I find comfort in praying out loud in my car, so I was speaking truth over my anxiety that the rain would keep us from doing the session. "Lord, you know why we're here. You know this is about Cassidy & John's story. You know that this storm makes me a little panicky. You are God over the weather and God over our stories." The rain passed just in time for us to take some photos, and I was left feeling thankful and a little sheepish that I had been so anxious beforehand. . . I say this because my fear before the shoot was real...but you don't see the fear show up on social media. And there are many other times where my life doesn't look like a glamorous, frame-worthy Instagram moment. This weekend, I felt deep anxiety about finances and my future. I could sugarcoat things and say that I'm sooooo excited to go to Liberty University next year and that everything is sunshiney (which it is, a lot of times!) but that wouldn't be sharing the real truth...which is that I still need Jesus in every step of my life. I need Him to help me trust Him when I am worried about how I will pay for college. I need Him to help me have an attitude of peace and hope rather than one of anxiety and despair. I need Him to help me choose joy when I feel very comfortable choosing negativity. . . I hope this is an encouragement to you as you go about your scrolling seeing the 1% that is shared. We can't compare our messy-beautiful 100% of life to others' 1% that is a highlight reel. My prayer is that you can go out and live your 100% with wholeness and embrace the chaos of it all. Because in the raw & real? That's where Jesus shows up most. ❤️

Sitting here on this Tuesday night nearly in tears because I am just so overwhelmed and grateful. Grateful that life has led me to a career in which I can love on my people fiercely with my whole heart. Where I can be there with couples and families during the most wildly magical times of their lives. Where I can be immersed in these freaking incredible stories and testimonies and journeys of life and love and all the ups and downs, and everything in between. It is an honor that words fail to describe, but the tangible energy from you all and the gratitude I carry through each story and beyond is life-changing; from the very depths of my heart, thank you for having me. | picture by @nicolecalivaphoto

Not every season of our life together is going to be sunshine and flowers, and this season in particular is more rain and fog. It’s a good thing we’re on this crazy ride together because I’m not sure what we would do without each other’s honesty, patience, words of wisdom, encouragement, and love. Although the road ahead looks unclear, confusing, and scary sometimes on our own personal journeys, we know we will always have each other to come home to. We are on each other’s team right now more than ever before. We have seen each other struggle, we have both been challenged in different ways, and we have gotten through storms together before. But right now, our marriage has never felt so real and raw. When one of us is weak, the other is naturally strong. When one of us is consumed by fear, the other is fearless. We’re a team and we chose to do this life adventure together. This season has been a rollercoaster of emotions while each of us are tackling two different businesses under one roof. But we will never let each other feel alone in this. We vowed to hold each other’s hands through every valley and every mountain we climb and we refuse to let each other fall. We vowed to love each other during our darkest times. We vowed to grow together with God as our guide and to believe that He will provide. This season we’re experiencing may not be easy, but we were led here for a reason. We will find purpose and strength through it all.❤️ . Raise your hand if you know what’s its like to go after a big dream and then feel totally freaked out that you actually went after it.‍♀️ It’s normal to be afraid, but don’t let that doubt consume you and redirect your focus. Focus on that dream, set your intentions, and go after it with no regrets!
