~ The Wheel of The Year ~⁣ ⁣ Beltane is approaching us.⁣ ⁣ • The anglicised name for the Gaelic May Day festival. Most commonly it is held on 1 May, or about halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.⁣ ⁣ • Beltane is a day to celebrate fertility, fire, and abundance.⁣ ⁣ • The word 'Beltane' originates from the Celtic God 'Bel', meaning 'the bright one' and the Gaelic word 'teine' meaning fire. Together they make 'Bright Fire', or 'Goodly Fire' and traditionally bonfires were lit to honour the Sun and encourage the support of Bel and the Sun's light to nurture the emerging future harvest and protect the community. ⁣

Blessed Ostara everyone! . Not only do we have the #fullmooninlibra tonight, but it's also #ostara aka spring equinox. This full moon is all about balance. Where in your life do you need more balance right now? What needs more of your attention? What are you spending too much time on? Listen to how Grandmother Moon is asking us to balance our lives (hint: it might not be what you think). . Ostara (or spring equinox) is the official coming of spring. Similar to our theme surrounding this full moon, it is a time in the year where night and day are completely equal - perfect equilibrium. Ostara is named after the Germanic goddess of spring and dawn (Ostara/Eostre) and the traditional sabbat was then transformed into the Christian holiday, Easter. In Greek mythology, this is the time when Persephone returns from her six month stay in the Underworld. It is a time of renewal, rebirth and light winning over dark. Ostara represents the maiden form of the triple goddess, freshly bloomed and full of energy. This is a day to celebrate the return of light, the coming of summer, the inevitable turn of the seasons. If the sun is shining where you are today, go out and enjoy it. Buy yourself some flowers, bake something, create. Let the warmth that's returning to the earth light you up. Both the full moon and Ostara are the ultimate ode to spring. We are letting in the new while letting the old fall away, like how a snake sheds its skin. Allow yourself to be reborn into the light.
