I’m on a major Tangerine kick. My cousins came over yesterday and made some rollers. It was Citrus all around! I diffuse this with Grapefruit first thing in the morning for its sweet, tangy combo. Tangerine oil comes from the fruit's outer peel and has a warm, fresh and citrusy aroma. It’s amazing for skin support. I add it to my conditioner for scalp help too. #tangerineoil

But let me share with you what I've learned about cosmetics. In the US, there are no laws that require proof of product safety in relation to cosmetics and personal care products. There are also no laws or regulations to define the terms "natural" or "organic" when it comes to these products. So the laws and requirements that we are fimilar with in our food industry for "organic" or "natural" labeling do not apply here. That's because the FDA doesn't regulate cosmetics & personal care products the way they regulate food. The US is so behind when it comes to banning harmful chemicals from our every day products. For example, in 2009 the European Union had banned 1328 chemicals, in comparison to the US, as of 2018 had only banned 30! Yuk. So "Fragrance". You've heard me talk about this ingredient before, which is now a big No No for my family. The constituents that encompass the ingredient "fragrance" or "parfume" on a lable are considered trade-secret. It's a mix of substances used to make the smell within your lotions, MAKEUP, perfumes, body washes, cleaning supplies etc. The companies do not have to disclose what chemicals they have used when under "fragrance" because then anyone would be able to duplicate their product to a T. Whether harmful or not, they do not have to disclose them! So the same constituents that are in your Miss Myers dish soap, could be some of the same constituents in toliet bowl cleaner! Why does this matter? Our skin is the biggest organ on our body. On average, women add over 200 chemicals to their skin daily, and more than 60% of these are absorbed into the bloodstream. You will absorb 5lbs of makeup chemicals in 1 year, which if you start wearing makeup at the age of 15 and stop at 65, you would be absorbing about 250lbs of chemicals in your lifetime! So remember, natural does not mean non-toxic. Look at the ingredients of your products & say NO to the ones that do harm. It's not worth it. #YLlifestylechallenge
