24 hours only goes so far ⏳ . Let’s say that you have a sickness that causes chronic fatigue. Let’s say that you sleep 10 hours a day (even though it might be 12, or 14). You have 14 hours left. Let’s say that your sickness also causes pain. You probably move more slowly because of the pain, or have to spend time resting, or you need daily epsom salt soaks. You have more doctor appointments than the average person, and maybe you also have massage therapy or acupuncture or whatever else you need to manage your pain. You’re probably pretty broke - all those treatments cost money, and chronically ill people tend to earn less than healthy people. So, you can’t just order food a few times a week - besides, there’s a good chance you try to eat healthy. Partly for your health, but also because it’s the first thing every doctor asks. So there’s more of your time spent making your own food, and cleaning, and everything takes more energy. . And there you are, at the end of your 14 (or 12, or 10) hour day, and you’ve only done the basics. You’ve gone to work, you’ve eaten, you’ve functioned. But you don’t have time (or energy) to go out with friends, to go to yoga class, to watch that tv show, to clean your room, to do anything but sleep. . Yes, the pain is awful. But the time you lose? 4/9 I injured myself. I was taking the trash out and stupidly lifted it up onto the curb using an unsafe lifting technique. I felt a pop, and my legs went weak. I hurried inside to lay down. The pain was getting worse. I decided to go to med express to get it looked at because it was that bad. The X-ray came back with no break to any of my bones. They gave me a shot of medicine to ease the pain. And some steroids to go home with The X-ray did show something though. A “2.8 cm opacity in my left himsphere pelvis” whatever that’s supposed to mean. She said it could be nothing. It could be something. I cried when I left with the unknown of what it is. She suggest I follow up with a gynecologist. I have an appointment next week. I called the second I composed myself. Abnormal results are scary. The unknown is scary. This is just a bump in the road. A stumble. A depressing moment of mental and physical weakness. But I just have to have faith I will persevere. . Leave me a comment of a set back you’ve had and how you overcame it!! .

My first day on L&D today and I was able to witness a baby girl be born into the world 2 hours after my shift started The nurses were so amazing for calling me to come watch the birth and the parents were even better for being okay with me watching. And we all cried together when she came out lol I couldnt help it * I knew I would enjoy this rotation, but it's something about childbirth that makes me feel so freakin happy! Definietly going to explore the L&D nurse route a lot more as I start planning my final route of practice as an RN/NP.
