Today is Sunday, and as is customary I'm sharing a piece from my own collection. I said earlier in the week that spring has been a bit of a theme in my posts lately, and all over London the blossom is out in white, pink, and purple. Brighter, longer days and more bursts of sunshine combined with the beauty of the blossom at this time of year were clearly the inspiration for this extremely pretty decoration, which I've had a couple of times in the past on pieces in other shapes. I was lucky enough though recently to find it again on this broad teacup shape which gives such a lovely view of these exquisite handpainted spring flowers. The lustrous gilded background gives a glorious brightness to the pieces. As is often the case, it's the small details that really show the quality and artistic skills of the piece, from the use of turquoise instead of green or gold for the leaves, the moulding and scalloping around the rims, and the exuberant charm of the hand painted blossom.
