~New Chip~☆Who dis?☆ Today's mood: gratitude. Instead of: why is this the cards I was dealt? Why can't I go shoot the shit with my friends? Why can't I day trip at the creek? Why can't I have an old fashioned with dinner?... Why? Why? Why? Instead of ALL THAT BITCHIN', be thankful. Ask yourself some real questions. Where can I be of service? Why am I transferring anger? I did it!! Yesterday was my 5️⃣ year Sober-versary!! A few of biggest lessons I’ve learned these past 5️⃣ years is : NEVER give up on myself. Keep persevering ESPECIALLY during the hard times. I am wayyy STRONGER than I thought I was. The past DOES NOT define my future. NEVER be ashamed to tell my story. Always week to GROW. Keep PUSHING myself out of my comfort zone. Be RESILIENT. ....and above all else love on yourself FIERCELY I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to my family and friends who’ve supported me along the way. My husband had been by far my biggest supporter. He has been by my side from day one and even gave up drinking alcohol himself despite not being a problem drinker simply to support me. We spent the day yesterday hanging out with the girls and we went to see SHAZAAM . It was ironic that we watched a movie about a child who was battling his own limiting beliefs who ultimately transformed into a superhero which helped him to overcome those beliefs . Again, I am truly grateful for all of your love and support . PS... April is Alcohol Awareness Month, but I think alcohol is something we are all pretty aware of. . This picture is from 12 years ago and I look happy w my two martinis, but as my alcoholism continued to spiral out of control, you’ll find fewer pictures like this and in general bc I was often hiding by myself in my apartment. . Today’s post on the blog is about exploring your relationship w alcohol and shining some light on the “sober-curious” movement. For some, like me, there’s no room for alcohol if we are to live productive lives, but for many it’s a good way to take a step back and asses why we even drink in the first place. . This past week I was given the opportunity to confront the man responsible for the death of my father. I have decided to share my victim impact statement with all of you in the hopes of helping at least one family or individual who is suffering from addiction. God has given me the strength and the gift of forgiveness and for the first time in 10 months, I feel I can finally begin to put this tragedy behind me.
