Just back from #Toronto after the install and opening of my solo show, "Ordinary Men". I couldn't have asked for a better time there and I'm incredibly happy with the way it went. I'm feeling blessed just thinking about how many great people I met whilst in #Canada! . A huge shout out to the whole @thepowerplantto team and particularly to my amazing show curator, @justinekohleal, for all her hard work and thoughtful input that went into #ordinarymen. It wouldn't have been the same without you! . Also, a big thank you to the Power Plant Board and their outgoing Chair, John Matheson, who's passion was always evident. A passion and drive that is embodied by the fantastic Power Plant director @gaetaneverna. It's been a privilege to work with you and your team and I'm very excited about your new Chair of The Power Plant Board of Directors, Jacques Bernier! . A very special thank you to all the collectors who loaned works for the show, including the wonderful @renniecollect, who hadn't even seen the new work before it was installed, as well as @halesgallery and @beyerprojects. . Lastly, but certainly not least, I also want to thank Steven and Lynda Latner for their generosity in supporting my show. . So happy to meet President Emmanuel Macron, of France, during his visit to Copenhagen on Tuesday. A portion of his trip was devoted to culture, urban planning, and public space in Copenhagen, and it was a supreme pleasure for me to show him Cirkelbroen and to introduce him to other sites and ideas in the city where I live. As a resident of Copenhagen and of Berlin, I am Danish, Icelandic, and German – but before that, I feel European and connected to the world. It is encouraging to see a politician recognize the importance and power of culture and to believe so strongly in the European project, as I do. In my opinion the potential of culture lies in how it brings us together in a shared space, in which disagreement is not only OK, but is in fact welcome and essential. For me, it is a question of transcending nationalist divisions and of expanding our inner sense of ‘we’. #CPH #publicspace #artinsociety #Macron #EuropeanUnion
