We are flippin' mad on both but if you fancy trying a savoury crepe this evening, then ham, cheese and spring onion with a dollop of Creme Fraiche is a winner winner for #shrovetuesday dinner. And can we also just take a moment to fully appreciate the one handed tossing action whilst filming —-> swipe right ‍♀ how do you toss yours?! . Easiest crepe pancakes (BBC Good Food recipe). 100g plain flour. 2 large eggs. 300ml milk. 1 tbsp sunflower or vegetable oil, plus a little extra for frying. .
-Put the flour, eggs, milk, sunflower or vegetable oil and a pinch of salt into a bowl or large jug, then whisk to a smooth batter.
-Set aside for 30 mins to rest if you have time, or start cooking straight away.
-Set a medium frying pan or crepe pan over a medium heat and carefully wipe it with some oiled kitchen paper. -When hot, cook your pancakes for approx 1 min on each side until golden, keeping them warm in a low oven as you go. -serve with your choice of toppings. I made these avocado ‘fries’ for my toddler earlier as a healthy snack and he absolutely LOVED them, so I thought I’d share! They’d be perfect for BLW as they’re easy to hold (and not half as messy ). We’re kicking off 2019 with our One Pot Chilli Mac’n’Cheese. Yep, you heard us right, Chilli Con Carne, Macaroni and Cheese all cooked in one big beautiful pot. Delicious! . . Ingredients. 150g dried macaroni. 400ml low salt beef stock. 1/2 tsp cumin. 1/4 tsp paprika. Pinch chilli power. 2 cloves of garlic, minced. 1/2 large onion or 1 small, diced. 100g grated cheddar. 50g torn mozzarella. Small handful chopped parsley. 250g lean beef mince. 1 green pepper diced. 1/2 400g red kidney beans. 1 400g can plum tomatoes. 1 tsp tomato purée. BABY LED WEANING 101 This post has been a long time coming and has been sitting in my drafts for some time now. Every time I receive a Dm asking me about finger foods, I promise myself it's the next one. Finally, I have completed it!  I do feel, however, that this resource can't be a single post. But for now answering when, how ,what. WHEN? When you start your baby on finger food really depends on you, your baby and what method of weaning you have chosen. Since I personally do a combination I would safely say 7 months However:-You shouldn’t start finger food before 6 months and your baby should be able to sit up independently and hold their head up. HOW TO PREPARE?  You want to offer food that is safe and easy for your baby to pick up and put to their mouth. babies, 6-8 months, generally use their whole hand to pick up food, this means they have to close their hand around a piece of food to hold it. The food should be bigger than the palm of their hand. Long strips of food work best at this age, around 5cm (2 inches). As babies get older, around 8-9 months, they are able to pick up smaller pieces of food, they have usually developed their pincer grasp at this age and use their thumb and forefinger to feed themselves. The texture is also something that you need to consider,if the food is too soft it will turn to mush when handled. If too hard they won’t be able to gnaw on it and could be a choking hazard. You can make food easier to grip by leaving the skin on or by using crinkle cutters to add texture. Don’t be afraid of spices and herbs, they are a fantastic way to add flavour and it is good to get your babies used to different flavours from a young age. Try different cooking methods, roasting, steaming, sautéing and boiling all can change the texture and way a food tastes. Swipe to check our variety. HOW MUCH SHOULD I OFFER? I served our courgette “fries” up for dinner this evening and they were gobbled up so fast, I just had to post the recipe on here for you all! . There’s not (yet) been a time I’ve made these little bad boys and had them refused, even during a “Mr Fussypants” stage. Seriously, if you’re pulling your hair out with a tot that won’t eat veg, try these... and thank us later. . These are perfect for BLW as they’re easy to hold and soft inside. Recipe below (and already on the blog), they just couldn’t be easier . . . Healthy Courgette “fries”. . Ingredients. . 1 courgette. 150g panko breadcrumbs. 100g grated parmesan. 1 beaten egg. 100g flour. Cooking spray. .  Method. . -Preheat your oven to 190 degrees (fan assisted). -Mix your parmesan and breadcrumbs together so that they’re completely combined. -Cut the courgette into chips. -Dip your courgette chips into the flour, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs. -Place onto a lined baking sheet and spray or brush with cooking spray/olive oil before putting into the oven. -Cook for around 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
