It’s Wednesday. I’m chatting about an essential oil for guys in the previous post, and I’m dreaming about beach days this summer as we struggle through morning routine and the needs of a very messy, sticky house today. ✨ My babies are begging to go outside, so I’m guessing the messy will get much worse before it gets better. And you know what? I think I’ll join them in playing hooky. . . . . .

I began using this oil blend “Gentle Baby” long before I held Abby. I used it during the years of miscarriages and IVF. I found it comforting. It was a promise. ♥️ . Also one of the best things to happen to my pregnant skin and emotions once I finally made it past the first trimester. . So clearly it was a favorite long before Young Living launched the toxin-free Seedlings line of soooo perfect baby products (the lotion is actually MY favorite for MY body too ). . But I digress You will always find Gentle Baby in our home. It earned its place during the months I would rock on the floor, grieving a miscarriage, listening to worship music, and gripping oil bottles for support. And it was the main oil I slathered my belly with while it was growing to prevent stretch marks. My babies love it in the diffuser to this day. And my budget loves it’s under $30 member price. . So these slow summer days I’m cooking plants for dinner, diffusing plants for the witching hour, applying plants to owies, and relying on plants and prayer to breathe life into my spirit. I think God smiled when He created us in His image and put us in a garden, lulled and comforted and surrounded and delighted by plants. Now if I could just find my green thumb . I would be lying if I said our home was deeply peaceful this morning. The rain has been pouring down through the night, Micah was up several times, both my children are eyeing each other with a mix of friendly and fiery “siblingness” (and, yep, I just coined that term #wednesdaywisdom), and we need to clean and pack for our road trip to Colorado for the celebration of a grandparent’s 90th birthday . I’m going to lean into the skid today, put on music, carry around a half-full mug all day, and pray we have enough art supplies to last a day of thunderstorms. ‍♀️ . The river has gone back down a little bit for the time being. It came up pretty high while we were gone, but not as high as predicted, which is great for us and many others along the river. Even though we weren’t stressed about it while we were gone, it was so nice to come home and see that the tent was ok. There’s still a ton of snow in the mountains, so we’re not out of the woods yet. We’re still Keeping our bags packed so we’re ready to roll last minute if needed. For now, we’re just going to keep living our little life and make a fire.

I showed Fox this photo from last year. We talked about how his favorite part was walking on the log and throwing rocks in the creek. How we wandered around the mountainside looking at and smelling all the wild flowers and taking in the breathe taking views. The memory of having to take refuge in the camper as a Hail Storm blew over the peaks and unleashed it’s wrath on us, which caused a rockslide on the road we were just driving on an hour ago. It’s why we do what we do. All they want is a dad that wants to do things with them. One that will take the time to put work aside to sit down to draw monsters with them. One that will save up all the old paper towel rolls so they can make guns out of them and battle. They don’t need much time to be happy, but it’s easy to give them nothing. Give them those times and they’ll become life long memories. #DoItForTheKids

I find that a lot of times I don’t spend nearly as much time doing things with Grizzly as I do with Fox. It’s hard. He’s 2 and requires so much more help than Fox, so a lot of times I’ll brush him off. He wants in on every adventure, but slowly falls behind with his tiny legs. It’s a tough time for him and hearing his sad screams as Fox and I head out on bike rides is heart breaking. I can be better about doing things with him he is capable of doing and still getting learning time in, and I need to. #archery • Also, if you haven’t checked out the podcast I was on talking about our life, you still can!
