It’s no secret that keto is one of the best interventions for diabetes. Since Alzheimer’s is now often referred to as Type 3 diabetes due to similarities between the conditions, you can understand why keto should be more strongly considered for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) management.

AD does not have to occur, we have accepted that this is a disease that comes with age but it does not have to be. Taking care of your brain health at a young age and as you age can make a big difference! For those of you already doing keto, you’re off to a great start!

For those who have family member with AD, look into Dr. Mary Newport’s story to learn more about what you can do for loved ones suffering from this condition! While there is no current cure for this condition, there are dietary interventions you can use to improve quality of life and reduce symptoms. I have even heard stories of people using keto and other methods of inducing ketosis being able to pull family members out of hospice! There is hope!

My favorite benefit, beyond brain health, Is the mental challenge.
When we create our own struggles in life, like exercising, obstacles that come our way in every day life are easier to overcome.
For me, BMX is one of those mental struggles but exercising has vastly far less risk, of course.

I see the fight in you. And wow, it’s been a fight to get back here.

The concussion hit me out of the blue, on a random Friday like any other. Even after my head hit the concrete, I had no idea what I was in for.
.
24 hours later, in the ER, I was repeating the same questions, violently nauseated, unable to handle light. Still, I couldn’t fathom the road ahead.
.
It was hard for me (I’m pretty solidly in the non-athlete category) to understand how severe post concussion syndrome can be. Some days were incredibly dark. Excruciating, head-splitting pain. Nausea. I lost my sense of taste and smell. For a time, I lost many parts of myself.
.
Moving back in with my parents during the recovery, I grappled with - who am I without this job, this career? Without abilities I had taken completely for granted? I felt untethered. My mind reeled at a future that looked blank.
.
It took being stripped down the core of me before I could start moving forward again. And in this long journey - back to health, to taste and smell, and YES, back to the anchor desk and to the job I love - I’ve discovered that today I’m not exactly “back to where I was,” before that Friday - the goal I’d held tightly to for so long. What I think is more true is that I am more wholly myself than I’ve ever been before.

You’re resilient, too. The truth is, you’ve survived every single bad day you’ve ever had. I FEEL your strength, and thank you for lending it to me when I needed it ❤️
