My second round of chemo wasn’t that bad although I had 2 allergic reactions during my Benadryl drip. My body seems to be coping well after this round and I’m not as lethargic as before . I’m almost reaching the halfway mark of my chemo treatment and I’m so thankful my body is receptive to the chemo drugs. 2 down , 2 more rounds to go Better days are coming really soon #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #chemotherapy #her2breastcancer #breastcancerwarrior

Our bodies are such an incredible gift, and the only place we will live in while we are here! Yet we don't treat it like that. We eat junk food way to much, cut out sleep, smoke and drink until we feel ill, and generally beat it up as if there are no consequences. I have been willing to trade great fuel for soothing of emotion myself, ultimately facing bigger problems in the end. Guess what?! We are worth more than this!
I haven’t talked much on social media about surviving cancer b/c for me cancer was the most anti-social of experiences. I ferreted out my dx from the radiologist during an early morning ultrasound, against protocol but I think he was worried as his facility missed it 2 yrs in a row + I’m a good cross-examiner. The info didn’t seem real, but @ the same time was, as it hit me like a train. I left the imaging center putting 1 foot in front of the other, fighting to control powerful emotions as everything around me was moving too fast &/or I was moving too slow. Not sure which. I then drove home in a state of I don’t know what & 1st order of biz was closing every curtain in the house so I could collapse into myself & drink a bottle of wine under no one’s watchful eye. I didn’t want to tell a soul, so picking up the phone & giving necessary info to necessary persons was difficult @ best & became more trying over time b/c in terms of people in my life, cancer was a catalyst that separated the men from the boys. So to speak. Unbeknownst to me, a sea change was rolling into my life which would change me profoundly – physically, professionally, emotionally, spiritually – and while for me there is no true silver lining to cancer other than not having it, I can say this. I believe in God & Christ & the Holy Spirit, as I did not before. I am free from the tyranny of other people’s unreasonable demands & expectations, as I was not before. I am able to act w/out remorse exactly as I believe is correct even @ the risk of ridicule, criticism or making a mistake, which I could not do before. All of which I guess means this. I might be wrong about silver linings. Maybe there’s more to it than just surviving. ♀️
When is the last time you sent flowers or a hand written thank you card to someone who has helped or supported you? #susangkomen_partner

When you are diagnosed with any stage of #breastcancer like me, you can tend to feel very isolated and alone but in actuality you have a great deal of support around you. Organizations like @susangkomen creates a community that unites and supports everyone affected by breast cancer and I have personally met doctors, nurses, and other individuals along my 7 year #breastcancerjourney that have helped me and I want to send gratitude for their dedication to the field and support of me and my diagnosis.
.
It’s terrifying to me that breast cancer is the leading cause of death for women 20-59 in the United States and I know there are others on the frontlines out there who have made it possible for me to receive treatment that I’ve never even met - like the person who invented the newest technology for the mammogram machine used to detect my breast cancer at an early stage, researchers, and other professionals who have dedicated their lives to finding cures, improving a patient's quality of life, or providing support services to those in need.
.
Who has helped you and who can you thank for their dedication and support? Please visit www.komen.org/frontlines to learn more about the individuals who are on the frontlines of breast cancer. #susangkomen
