2 years ago today I adopted my handsey boi @smokelogtherescuedog from #CarsonShelter. We’ve had so many adventures together. I had no clue what dog I’d end up falling in love with that day, but fate brought us together. Smokey went from being dumped at a high kill shelter by his last owners, to having people lined up to take pics with him on the red carpet! AND in honor of this special day, I’m about to go back to the same shelter and save another dogs life! Happy #gotchaday Smokelog!

The results are in. According to @wisdompanel Smokey is 100% #AmericanStaffordshireTerrier... But I ain’t buyin it. My last foster Lando did the test too, and the results were exactly the same. So let me get this right. You’re tryin to tell me that both these dogs, picked completely at random by me at #CarsonShelter are 100% pure breeds!? With the amount of backyard breeding going on these days, we know that it is highly unlikely that most dogs these days are 100% anything. The only way would be that there are breeders living in the Carson area of LA that are breeding all pure breed Staffy’s. Highly unlikely. I might not agree with it, but I’m sure there are people out here with the papers to prove the bloodlines. But look at Smokey compared to Lando! No doubt they both have #staffy in them. But there’s no way they are pure breed. Google #StaffordshireBullTerrier, it looks identical to Smokey. But if you were to seriously trace his genealogy, I guarantee you he’s got some other breeds in there. Especially knowing the area he came from. But here’s my thing, WHO CARES!? The dude is 100% handsey boi and that’s all that matters. I guess I just wanted to be more educated when people ask me about my dog. But now it opens up the conversation to tell people why rescue is the best breed! I got to meet Romo #A5240166 at #CarsonShelter. He’s so chill and easy going, totally my type of dog. The sad thing is, I think being at the shelter for so long is starting to wear on him. He’s still super friendly and has the cutest face. This poor dude was stuck at the Palmdale shelter for months, then transferred to Carson and has been there since December!!! Romo is a mellow 2-year-old male pit bull. He weighs 55lbs, walks nicely on the leash with very minimal pulling and he is consistently easy to handle. He love massages and treats, which he takes nicely. In play groups, Romo enjoys hanging out with both the gentle/dainty crowd and the push/pull group, though he tends not to actively engage with the push/pull play. Romo is confident and selectively social, he can be assertive with certain dogs but he is easily corrected. If you are looking for an easygoing, receptive dog, here he is!! His time is up at the #shelter and a #foster or adopter would SAVE HIS LIFE! ASSESSMENT She moved past the dogs and walked around sniffing the smells of the yard. She kept to herself and was quite shy. She sat down near the bench and watched the other dogs roam around the yard. She was very mellow, timid but friendly with low energy. She should be in small groups of calm dogs for now. ❣CHEVY IS SAFE WITH US❣ Chevy is safe and currently staying with one of our volunteers until we can get him in to see our vet this week. This poor guy was dumped at the Carson shelter with a large tumor on his leg. We were working with the owner to surrender him until she went MIA and Chevy ended up at the shelter with only 24 hours before he was going to be euthanized. He's going to need a lot of love, support and good vibes to get through this. We will keep updating as we know more about his condition.
