(I know I’m just as shocked as you that this is a real animal and not a composite.. okay it’s still a composite, but the geese are real ) About 2 seconds after this photo she realized that maybe she should have rethought her choices. And then she just decided to run after them. Didn’t realize her little legs could move so fast. Almost ran into the lake. Had to drop my camera and stop her from running into said lake. Then she noticed one of the geese had a baby. She tried to pick it up. It did not go over well. Then the geese started chasing her. She learned a ton of new inappropriate words. We left. I got my first film scans back yesterday (well, I used to shoot film, but never in full manual mode) and I was pleasantly surprised. I was truly expecting them to be either all over or under exposed and they weren't! I even nailed focus on most! So it seems that the light meter on my old Pentax works and now I can have some fun with some better films (I just started with a Kodak Ultramax 400). The best bit about using film? No editing!! The part I have little time for due to the chaos of life with 3 under 4! I know film scans can be edited, but I'm not going to go there for now, I'm going to embrace all the "flaws" and share and print them as is (yay for finally printing too!).

Sooo excited that spring is finally here! Nico and I really enjoy our garden adventures: neighbor's cat poop everywhere, a lot of aggressive red ants attacking Nico, mosquitoes attached to my ankles, Nico trying to eat the ground, Nico trying to escape from the gate, every imaginable insects species.... Can I simply put nature under a glass Ok, I'm definitely not a country girl...

I recently watched a motivation talk of Simon Sinek (if you have never heard his speeches, you should, they are great!) where he emphasized the question "why are you doing what you do? Do you know the why? or just the what and the how?" and it has me re-motivated! I started this photography "thing" because I feel SO strongly around capturing the connection and love in a family.  After losing our dear Landon, I realized sometimes all you have left are images... capture them, have them captured - you and your children will appreciate it <3  For me... these are the images - not the perfectly posed, stare at the camera... but let's have fun and be ourselves! Makes me think day-in-the-life sessions are in my near future...
