I have a huge place in my heart for biscuits. Not only are they delicious, they have the connotation of cozy mornings, nostalgia, and southern grandmas. Whether your family made them from scratch or you heard the iconic “pop” of the biscuit tube open, they’re always a comforting addition to the table. I love mine with honey butter or a hefty sprinkling of cinnamon sugar. Or if I’m feeling savory, as a sandwich with egg, pesto, and Canadian bacon. I’ve searched long and hard for a good biscuit recipe and these are my favorite. Crunchy on the tops/bottoms, but soft and pillowy in the center. You’ll find these biscuits at my pop-up café when it opens! I’m planning to serve them with honey butter, housemade fruit and bacon jam, or local cheese/meat.

When we woke up this morning, Jeremy, without saying anything to me, rolled over and began singing “today/is gonna be the day/that we pack up all the shit.” We made it through! Currently waiting on a curb in Ann Arbor guarding boxes of pots while he grabs the car. I definitely couldn’t have done this without him (well, I could have, but there probably would have been a lot more stress-crying involved). Three things: 1. The Big Crafty was incredible. I was so nervous to do a show with only this line of work, after making and selling crystalline for so many years. At noon yesterday when the show started I had decided that I was going to do this show and then stop making the slipcast work (I drank too much coffee and this was in the throes of some intense anxiety). By the time the show ended I had sold all but two of those vases that I posted yesterday, plus half of the shot glasses and a bunch of cups. Asheville, you made me feel so supported, and I realized today that after many months, this project might have just clicked over to being a profitable one. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 2. I drove back to Atlanta from Asheville this morning, and I have to leave TOMORROW to drive to Michigan for the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair. I'm spending the evening doing laundry, reorganizing pots, and repacking the car. If you're in the area for the show, come say hi! I'm booth 204 on Main Street. 3. I owe several of you responses to messages and inquiries at this point, and I hope you’ll be patient with me. It might be next week before I manage to get back to everybody (Normally I have a little time in the evenings when I’m doing shows, but the Ann Arbor show runs 10-9, so I’m basically just going to disappear into a hole for the next week or so.) EXCITING NEWS FOLKS!!! Milk + Honey is coming to downtown Ann Arbor! We’re opening a pop-up café in @drinkblom’s beautiful space! Lots more details to come, but we’re looking at Fridays/Saturdays then expanding from there. Expect @brewmockingbird drip coffee, @teahaus_annarbor teas, and light breakfast and lunch items. Think buttermilk biscuits with honey butter and housemade sweet/savory jams, our ever popular savory scones, macarons, pastries, and of course, cake slices. Vegan and gluten free options too! A portion of profit will still support @ozone_house. YAY!
