Last week, on a sunny Sunday morning, I met this beautiful family. We walked around a quiet St. George’s for a couple hours while I told stories. During my tours, I am always watching the group as they’re watching me. Learning from them as they’re learning from me. After hanging out with The Shahidis, I wanted to ask so many questions ... (including about Yara and Keri’s skin regimen because.... the glow ) Beyond the fact that they are incredibly thoughtful, engaged, and talented, they have the most calming energy. Seeing them fully interact with and enjoy each other was lovely and so rare, famous or not. Honestly, what @chocolatemommyluv and @afshinashahidi have created is quite magical. Thank you again for visiting our little town. You’ve inspired me to plan a family vacation.

It sometimes feels like we choose the lessons we overcome in this life. One of my major life lessons will be mastering the ability to be find joy in silence and not feel the need to say anything to please or comfort anyone and enjoying the power of my voice and using it without anxiety or hesistation. In short deepen my trust in how my intuition manifests in words and in silence. . . Speaking can be a funny, difficult, and powerful thing. At times erupting out of you and changing the landscape entirely, for better or for worse. Just the force of your voice has the power to soothe, break, create, liberate. Silence can sometimes be even more powerful, the listener truly knows the room, the situation, and can shift the mood just by listening intently or offering no excuses, not running from the awkward or uncomfortable, or offering words like coffers to appease those that do not deserve it. . . Trying to take my cues from the sea. How a sea shell can be smooth and unobtrusive, yet when flipped and pressed to the ear contains the full might of the ocean. The waves announce themselves long before they hit the shore rising with power and resting on the sand with ease. Just trying to live my life like the seashell on the shore and the waves rising to meet it.
