I’ve been a professional dancer for 18 years and I couldn’t help but feel like I was never enough each time I was cut from an audition. I would leave thinking, damn if only I was taller, or cooler or a better freestyler, or maybe I just need to befriend the right people. I would sit in my car, sometimes even in tears, and be so confused as to what I did wrong, what I needed to fix about myself to become more successful. And it wasn’t until a few days ago that I was at an audition and right before finding out the verdict, I said to myself:

You Are Enough.
I knew I would be happy and content no matter what the outcome was because I finally realized that I didn’t need to look outside of myself for validation. I no longer needed a job, a choreographer, an agent, or even a boyfriend to know that I’m already complete. It was so damn freeing!
In that moment I had taken charge. I was in control of my happiness. I’m still in the thick of my journey inwards, but after a few years of not auditioning, to come back and see the change that has happened within me was so eye opening and liberating.
I’m really proud of myself. And I’m so grateful for my teachers, my friends, my family, who’ve all supported and believed in me no matter what. To remember what has always been true, I am enough...and so are you.

Think of it like a wave — if a wave is so big and so great, the crash will be just as great.
