EARTH DAY // happy #earthday everyone! What are you doing today in honour of earth day? I plan to spend as much time as possible outside, connecting with nature and reminding myself what I’m fighting to protect. Apart from that, here’s some things you can do to make everyday earth day: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ - join your local @extinctionrebellion ⁣⁣⁣ - adopt a mainly plant based diet ⁣⁣⁣ - take one less flight this year⁣⁣⁣ - reduce your plastic consumption ⁣⁣⁣ - buy less and buy second hand first ⁣ - reduce your energy consumption at home ⁣ - turn off lights and appliances, wash your clothes on cold & air dry laundry. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ We won’t solve climate change without massive political and economic reform - governments and corporations must be held responsible and take the lead. But we also have a responsibility as individuals (especially individuals in the Global North) to do what we can within our means - our consumption habits are not sustainable. VIENNA - This is our Uncle Raghav. He is older than us but we have a lot in common. :) He also loves to help the #earth and save the oceans. My #sister and I help clean beaches - last weekend, Raghav Chacha also did a clean up drive, but a different one. He was saying #babies are too small for this kind of work, but we told him saving the #planet is everyone's job, it doesn't matter how old you are! We missed his clean-up project so we told him, 'Show me some photos. I want to check how much work you did!' I love a two-lane road picture. It speaks to me of freedom and adventure that comes with a #roadtrip. I can turn left, where I may stumble onto a dive-restaurant, discover a new mezcal and meet it's creator - or, I can turn right, where an incredible vista awaits, never seen before, or again, because the sky, and the light, will never be the same. These are such powerful moments, created between the observer and the observed. As the observer, I feel like I'm collecting experiences that are exclusively mine, forever. And photos are the best souvenirs. This photo reminds me how I felt when I stood in the middle of the road and snapped this photo, hoping a car wouldn't come around the bend. Fellow #traveljunkies understand. We can't wait to go out and collect more experiences. Although it won’t be a road trip (rather camping and hiking) my next trip is up to Katmai, Alaska. What's yours?
