Today is “How it’s Made” day for #marchmeetthemaker . . Here I am needle felting a Monarch butterfly. This is about 70 minutes (and I was flat out!) of work, in 40 seconds! If you aren't familiar with needle felting, I'm holding special barbed felting needles that I use (by stabbing thousands of times) to tangle the different colours of wool together. The needles are my paintbrush and the wool is my paint! After the piece was needle felted, then it was wet felted, which turned the still fairly loose wool fibres into a sturdy fabric that could then be mounted onto a canvas. This completed butterfly was 12" x 12" and made from unspun Merino wool (combed top and batt) and Silk. Almost everything I make is first needle felted, and then wet felted. I love the combination of the two. Thanks for watching!

The storm became this. It's almost ready to wet felt , I just need to fiddle with the tree a bit more. Thanks to everyone who told me that the last post looked like rapids or wild water.
