Got back to working on Wuuthrad! I used a soldering/wood burner to sculpt the pattern. First time trying that out but it was quite fun:) . Remember to use protection kids! Started on Berserker Leafeon’s axe today on stream. It’s based on the Elin Berserkers from the game TERA just like the rest of the armor set @taigakunn designed. The axe head is almost 3ft across. I’m making it out of EVA foam and the blade portion will be coated with XTC 3D from Smoothon. This is the same method I used for my giant dragon sword for Mystic Kingdoms Arthas which has held up amazingly well. It’s a heavier method than using pink insulation foam coated with something like Episilon but I just find the density and sturdiness of EVA much more appealing for something I want to rest on the ground on the blade edge. I’ve had my arthas sword stored for a couple years now, standing up resting on the blade and the XTC resin coating hasn’t cracked or anything. I only use the resin coat on the blade, the additional details like the leaves and vines will be primed with my usual wood glue, or maybe I’ll try to use up more of the creature cast rubber I used in the armor.
