Just briefly pinched this new book by @ausfoodsov out of @costasworld 's bag while he was busy gas-bagging in the background ❤. It's a beauty - one that will help change both the cultural and natural landscape of Australia for the better. .
Privileged to pop into the Youth Climate Conference today where my heart was all filled up with the intelligence and passion of the next generation. Costa and I got to talk food security with a wonderful bunch of students and teachers. I leave remembering that together we can do anything - include save the world (literally).

Had to share this gorgeous corn from Heartwood Family Farm! Thank you for nurturing and spreading these beautiful seeds to other seed savers.

Y’all love colorful corn, and I love that! It really makes me so happy to see people connecting with these beautiful heirloom corn varieties. Corn and humans have co-evolved - we are who we are because of each other! Our stories are woven together.
Finally got a moment to sit (and pray and give thanks) with the stunning blue and green corn we grew this summer and separate out the best seeds to save. So if you’ve been following for a little while and requested some seed back in the fall, I’ll be sending it your way very soon! I’ve got enough to send a couple more packets if anyone else is feeling called - just holler at me. This one is from an amazing teacher in the Asheville birth support community. It looks a lot like Oaxacan Green ✨

I am so excited to release Plant the Seed our newest music video documentary and single from my upcoming album Resiliencia! This is the story of black farmer and educator @leahpenniman and her journey to become the co-founder of @soulfirefarm , a national leader in the food justice movement. Watch now, link in bio!
Wow! Have you ever followed someone you admire and then one day you get to meet them, connect, and play? That happened to me today!! Woot woot!
We hosted @yoga_girl and 30 of her yoga retreat students from @envisionfestival at one of our Tree nurseries today! The group participated with us for SEVA service as part of their journey!
The air was so full of tree love as we mixed soil and filled bags to transplant baby trees we pulled out from our germination beds! Everyone helped clean and prepare guapinol seeds and some of us loved the yummy stinky superfood powder! We made a whole new batch of bokosha compost for the next group coming in a few weeks! After placing the newly transplanted babies under the green tent and watering them, we planted seeds with our intentions!
We worked up a good appetite and shared a yummy typical Costa Rican lunch all together in our cozy shipping container space and the day flew by! We got so much done! And lots of people sponsored trees! Thank you thank you thank you!
I wish I had more pictures but alas I was so busy talking and having fun... see our story posted!
Seeing everyone respond to the work never ceases to encourage me! It feels like more and more people get “it” and want to do more to offset their carbon footprints in the most long term and socially empowering and gender inclusive way possible.
Connecting with such a like minded and kind human like @yoga_girl really is a sign of the times! Thanks for being such a compassionate leader Rachel and choosing to give back with us in such a meaningful way both to the natural world and to communities looking for alternatives to poverty and deforestation!
It all begins with a seed! An idea. A dream! How beautiful when we can combine our dreams, our voices, our hands and do something real and lasting for future generations!
and big tree hugs to all the team members who helped make this day flow without a hitch!

DJARDUK RED APPLE •
Did you know that the Maningrida region is one of the most multilingual places on earth?
Many people speak several of our 12 languages, inherited through both their mother’s and father’s sides of the family. This is why we have so many names for each of our bush foods.
Nathaniel: When we were little, you know, we used to see this kind - red apple - and we’d say “ah, Djarduk!” When we’re hungry, we say “Djarduk!” in our language (Rembarrnga), from Kune language. We share that name.
Leila: in my language (Gurr-Goni) I call this Mut-gumamirrtjiyi. When we see it fruiting, this Syzigium (it’s Latin name), we go and collect all the bush food and eat them.
We take our knowledge with our grandkids. We take them and they follow us behind, and we show them. ~ Nursery and Bush Foods supervisors, Nathaniel Wilson and Leila Nimbadja
