All life is sacred. Some years back I had this really powerful realization, I hope some of you will click with it too. I realized on my quest to remove anger and violence from inside of me, that ANY violence is violence. Period. No exceptions. Meaning, by universal law, what difference is there in killing a human being, a dog, a pig, or a fly? “None,” I thought to myself. “Any violence is violence, no matter the scale. If I truly claim to desire world peace and to end suffering, I must be ferocious with myself and give no justification for any violent act I commit. Until then, I cannot open my mouth about peace or love.” . My inner voice really shook me that day. And that’s the day I decided to NEVER kill/eat/disregard another living creature consciously. I even prayed, “With my integrity to this principle, cosmos please bless me to not even accidentally kill something.” . AHIMSA is a core Yogic principle and it has absolutely no room for hypocrisy in my understanding. Any little bit of violence cherished inside spreads like a virus through our consciousness and the collective. Peace and nonviolence starts today & it starts and ends in only one place- inside me. Inside you. PS. This is the only goat yoga we should be practicing-hugging loving and not eating them. I have always had a strange relationship with cows and milk... mainly because the doctors told me I was lactose intolerant from a young age and also it would flare up my eczema. Today even when I have milk I become itchy and tend to break out. But here I have been learning about how sacred it is to look after cows, and I have been learning about the amazing science behind the benefits of their dung, urine and milk. . . Since I have been having a treatment where buttermilk (infused with Ayurvedic herbs) is poured for up to 1hr across my forehead, something called Takradhara,I really felt like I needed to go and say thank you to the cows for this!! I also have been drinking medicated buttermilk too and it’s so tasty. The cows are extremely well looked after here, it is a sacred process and the cows are very happy and liked to be massaged! I will go often and give them my thanks . .
