Rycker says “What mommy! More nurses!! This week had an interview with a shift nurse! She was really nice and Rycker seemed to connect with her. It was also nice knowing that she has a daughter with special abilities. We are waiting on a phone call from someone that might be able to help us look into another opinion as well. Our coordinator/advocate will be looking into it as well. I will feel a lot more at ease knowing that we have help here, especially when Jeffrey is at work! We had a doctors appointment yesterday and a few more before our most important appt. with the pulmonary hypertension and transplant team doctor, where we will figure out how we will proceed, if he doesn’t think we should have the cardiac cath procedure done on Rycker’s heart sooner than it was scheduled for before the cardiac arrest,I will definitely be looking into other options, as far as Rycker’s care goes, I am also going to bring up something called Tracleer or Bocentin, which we had talked about before he was discharged in March. I think in the least a different medication or added one should be a start, that along with the cardiac cath, will hopefully give us an idea of what is really going on, or at least tell us is the pressures haven’t improved. To be honest I think there is something more going on with Rycker’s Heart but they are telling me that because it was repaired that he shouldn’t be going into heart failure or anything, which I’m not sure I believe. What they are worried about is the high pressures from his lung having an affect on the right side of the heart making it work harder then it should and causing it to be enlarged. All I can do is pray that someone can figure out what to do next. Whether it’s here or somewhere else, at least someone affirming that we are on the right course of treatment. Rycker has been doing okay and we have been getting some smiles! He did have 2 minor episodes in the past few days, he turned blue and cried uncontrollably, and had started breathing extremely fast. I unfortunately only caught the fast breathing and uncomfortable crying on video, I wanted to get the whole episode to show the doctors.Atleast someone will be here to help.

We are meeting with a new night nurse this week to see if she’s a good fit with Emmy. It’s only been three weeks but we are exhausted so hopefully it will work out. We have another that we’ve met with but she isn’t available until some time in December and this one is available immediately. We miss our nurse that had to leave for a while. It’s always scary to meet new people to put her care in their hands. We have been so lucky with all of the nurses we have that help us give her everything she needs. I’ve heard some real horror stories and I don’t ever want our luck to run out.
