✨The multicultural tribe✨ My writing style has pretty much two modes: cheesy or academic. Truth be told, I am not keen on either of them, but it's part of who I am and my way of expressing. Since this is a post about my family, you guessed it, it's a cheesy ride in our little world. . About my tribe, there are many things I could talk about. What I do want to share with you is something that makes our family special: our cultural backgrounds. . ✨We are a bicultural family. A mixture of Romanian and Irish, or as we like to call it "Romirish", or how Davy prefers "celtodacic" . We intend in raising our baby in the arms of both of our cultures. We speak to him in our native tongues. The stories we tell are rooted in the hills of Ireland as much as they are in the fields of my own country. The songs we sing have been passed down from generation to generation of Irish and Romanian families. ✨We laugh out our countries myths and stereotypes and adjust them to our own story. For example, we thought that Cedrych's first tooth will be a canine, since that's where the tooth seemed to burst. That reinforced the whole Romanian vampire fable. Yet here I am, the Romanian vampire ‍♀️ that loves garlic and enjoys the sunshine and over there Davy, the "tall as a pine tree" leprechaun . In the end, the little vampire-leprechaun got his incisive as his first #mythbusted . ✨Back to the cultural influneces, we won't stop to our own. We are all children of a vast and varied world and we would love to be able to explore, learn and teach, about as many cultures as possible. We use our traveling trips to participate and observe, books and other media to learn more about what we experience. But the best way to do it is sharing with you, with travelers, with locals. We love to talk with people from all over the world, to hear their stories. . ☕️☕️ ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Slow mornings with the munchkins are my favorite, BUT I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t a tad nervous about all the downtime we’re going to have with the kids out of school for the summer I’m starting to shift my attention to planning some fun things and making a summer bucket list! What’s on your summer summer bucket list or do you have one? I’m thinking water fun, children’s museums, camp outs, making ice cream- all the things And please remind me of these fun plans when we’re two weeks in and I’ve lost every last marble I ever had a chance of keeping Mommies, you KNOW what I mean, I know you do ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⁣

A typical 3.75 year old who loves to be in the company of her friends, who laughs hysterically when her dad throws her in the air, who chows down on scallops and king crab (thanks auntie L and uncle C ☺️), who loves to dance AND who's trying to *crawl*!!!! (In Stories)• • • Now add those labels - child with special needs, cerebral palsy secondary to a brain injury due to encephalitis, ambulatory, tube-fed, nonverbal, visually impaired and the list goes on. What you'll find is a remarkable girl. She has to work a hundred times harder to move her muscles, her limbs, to hold her head up to push against all the spasticity that is working against her. Everyday she reminds me that hard work and perseverance will pay off. I am so proud to call her mine.

Rest don’t quit. We live in such a culture of busy don’t we?! So much so that I actually now really don’t like the words hustle and busy. When I think of these words, I think of stress. I think of the time when my face was plastered to my bathroom floor and I couldn’t get up, because I was so sick and burnt out. Or the time when my friend had to come take me to the hospital at 1 am, because the migraine got so bad. I’ve been in a long period of rest which is why I haven’t posted much lately!! I was getting close to burn out and I could feel it. This period of rest has been ESSENTIAL for me. Funny thing is, I actually haven’t “rested” that much. But I’ve been doing things that are bringing order and joy to myself, my home and my family. It feels good! So how about you mama? Is your life chaotic? Do you allow yourself breaks from social media, work, and outside engagements? Or do you just keep on hustling until you hit the ground flat like I used to do? Are you tired from running from one thing to the next? Are you allowing yourself time to cook a proper meal or getting enough sleep? Remember YOU are in control of your calendar. If the kids miss one practice or you have to step down from a volunteer role that’s OKAY.
