It's 2019 and I've been spending a lot of time reflecting over the last few days....this past year has been a whirlwind of nappies, feeds, night waking, pacing, rocking, bobbing, pram walks and laughing ✴️ I think back to this time last year where I was eagerly anticipating Tabs arrival, going to bed every night wondering if tonight would be the night, would I feel my waters pop? Would contractions just start? I had no idea then how they would feel for me and my body...would I feel pain? Would birth hurt? I had no idea when, how or where my baby would be born I had 'plans' and as all things change...those plans evolved and changed and we went with it! I came out the other side loving my birth. I didn't love all the events, or each individual part but I did love feeling that I had worked so hard, my body had done this incredible job and in the end my body (and by that point...my mind) had needed the intervention I received (gratefully) and my baby was born in a brightly lit theatre with about 15 amazing people in the room. For me as a Midwife my sole aim and passion is to be ✨WITH WOMEN✨. That said...I love to support the dad's to be too (of course!) But there's something truly magical about supporting a woman through the hardest days work she will ever do. Birthing a baby is like nothing else. It's hard, grafting, challenging, empowering, beautiful, overwhelming, trusting, achingly powerful, emotional.....the words list could go on and on. . . I am bowled over every day by the power I see in women. Their strength, courage and love for their babies is beautiful. Today I witnessed a stunning birth, I was invited into that birth space and it will be imprinted in my mind forever now. . I have the craziest, best job in the world. Not only do I get to be with women in labour and birth, but before too. As here, with you, teaching hypnobirthing I get to see the penny drop, the understanding sweep over you. Wow this year has been epic ❇️ . I've cried a lot! Tears of joy, hurt, love, frustration, pain, pride and passion. . I've laughed harder and more than I've ever laughed ✴️ Mostly at all the new things our baby has done over the last month's! . I'm so pleased of how far my business has grown in the past year too, I've found it hard at times to prioritise family when I want to get stuck into work, but I'm getting better at it ❤️ and I'm loving developing new products and support aids for my hypnobirthing clients. . I've also included in here quite a few pictures of my husband, with whom I would never have gotten through the last year, not only is he an incredible dad, he has supported me every step of the way with the business, problem solving, designing the website with me, printing, ordering, packaging you name it! All whilst working hard in his own career.
