Meet 'Henley'! She's our 13 week old Black Lab/ Jack Russell mix that we adopted from an AMAZING foster family through Fur-Ever Paws Dog Rescue Inc. on New Year's Day :) She was named after singer Don Henley who sings my favorite song "Boys of Summer". She has settled into a great routine and she has taken to crate training and also leash training amazingly well. Her house training is also progressing at a great pace. She is amazing with our kids. For those of you keeping score, this is the second dog we adopted into our home since Thanksgiving. It all started as a challenge to myself in November 2013 to keep from slipping back into a deep depression I had been struggling with for a few years. It turned into my life preserver. And when I realized what a difference it made on my mood, I just kept going. . It's based on Positive Psychology research that finds people who notice and appreciate beauty are more likely to have joy and meaning in everyday life. . It's not always easy to find something of beauty. I've had plenty of tough days when nothing seemed beautiful but I have learned to make my own beauty and push myself to find something. And honestly, those are the days it helps the most to find that one good thing. . Some of you have joined me with your own #IChooseBeauty pics, and I love seeing them every day. I hope the images and words have helped you as much as they've helped me! They're proof that happiness is right in front of us, all around us. We just have to choose to see it.
