"How soft drinks affect your teeth?": in this experiment we use eggs as teeth model. In fact like our teeth the eggshells are rich of calcium. Also the eggshell protects the soft part inside the egg just like the enamel on our teeth protects the soft and tender pulp on the inside. We have tested 4 soft drinks: coke, ribena juice, Apple juice, and redbull without sugar, plus water as control. The eggs have been put in the cups with the drinks and we will look at them tomorrow for our results. Just me & my little pea head defrosting some cells

Hello everyone! These are colonies of algae, Synura! They are gentle tumbleweeds of the microworld and I absolutely love watching them rolling. . Each of those yellow balls contain numerous individual cells. These cells came together to form these colonies and each cell has two whip-like structure called flagella, beating of these flagella tumbles the whole colony in the water just like this. . In Spring, Synura form blooms, they turn the whole pond to a yellowish color even and they produce an odor I cannot quite explain, but I always know they are blooming because of the odor. Well, yes I am proud of my nose! I should try hunting for truffles! . Since I quit my job, I go to collect samples almost every day and I collect the samples in drug test cups which I buy from the pharmacy next to my house. I have around hundred cups full of water now and took 10 new cups today and the pharmacist finally asked me what do I do with all these cups and I explained what I do, she laughed and said that she thought I keep getting my urine tested for drugs. If you have been following me for a while maybe you remember the post about the vortex cannon. By patting it on the back, this device will produce quite powerful air vortices. The vortex of air coming out can be easily seen if the device is filled with smoke, using a smoke machine. The vortex of air is generated because the air leaving at the centre of the hole is travelling faster than the air leaving around the edge of the hole. The result is nice giant smoke rings. Bittersweet: Two of my best friends graduated today‍‍Over the past 3 1/2 years, they have been by my side, cheering me on, and I’ve tried to do the same for them. I got home while the sun is still up! I don’t know what to do with myself. • I still haven’t quite gotten into the flow of studying on rotations, so I’m a major work in progress right now. I think setting weekly goals rather than daily is going to be the key. Maybe. ‍♀️ I’m not worried yet. I know I can study more for my shelf exam during my outpatient Peds month. • What I do know is that I’m loving rotations so much more than preclinical work. Our attending spent close to an hour teaching us today after rounds, and it was AWESOME. I understand the topics we covered in a more practical way now. Yay, learning! #nerd
