Those of you that follow my Youtube channel will know that I use Lee filters and have done for as long as I care to remember. Now filters are not for everyone and many would prefer to use Lightroom or Photoshop to selectively balance their exposures, and whilst I agree there is some value in post production manipulation of the tonal values in the image, nothing feels more satisfying to me than getting the image as near as possible whilst out in the field. Going back to my point, I have been looking more and more at glass graduated filters of late, as I am growing tired of using resin based filters in front of my high quality glass lenses. With this in mind, I have managed to get my hands on a set of Kase Wolverine filters on kind loan from Kase UK. They have sent me a 6 stop ND filter, three graduated filters, a magnetic polariser (yes you heard correctly - magnetic!) and a filter holder, all nano coated glass, which means rain hardly sticks to the surface and any little droplets that do, simply wipe away with a quick swipe of the lens cloth. I am more used to packing up and going home in such conditions! Below is my first image with the filters. I used the 6 stop ND and a 0.6 stop hard graduated filter. The shutter duration was 20 seconds and there is no colour cast. The warm light seen in the image was the last warm colours of light reflecting off the brooding clouds in the sky above.
