Gluten and Dairy Free LIDL finds
Lidl is a little treasure trove when it comes to finding free from products at a bargain price. Today I went in looking for the new dairy free yogurts and although I couldn’t find them I did come across all of these goodies ➡️ How good do these ‘ice cream’ lollies look and they’re a complete bargain at £1.99 for 4! The hot chocolate stirrers also look amazing! (I can’t remember the price of them but I’m sure they weren’t expensive) and how amazing would the dark chocolate fondue set be as a present for someone who can’t tolerate dairy! It’s also an absolute bargain at £7.99
Also, did you know that Lidl’s own brand soya milk is less than half the price of bigger brands at only 59p a carton What are some of your favourite free from bargain buys?
-
**Although all of the products don’t contain any dairy ingredients they do contain may contains due to manufacturing methods so may not be suitable for those with severe dairy allergy**
•Food Fanatic•
Hahahaha now I know this sounds a bit selfish but omg......
How flipping amazing is food!
Especially when it’s GF, DF, Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Waffles from @nutri.hitt
.
Seriously, I give these waffles a 9/10!!! These were so delicious and so so soooo insanely rich - honestly it’s probably the first time in a long time that I haven’t finished a whole meal before hahaha - it was serious #DeathByChocolate and I wouldn’t want it any other way!
.
Swipe right for more #FoodLove
.
I’m super keen to start posting a lot more food piccies because I’m an absolute FANATIC about eating out whenever I have the opportunity to do so - I think it’s because my culinary skill set isn’t the most advanced HAHA yet I have so many dietary requirements (not by choice loll)
And that’s why I’m just soo so obsessed with all the cute little vegan/Cici-friendly Cafe’s that I find hehe.
I’m like a real kid in a candy store
.
I often get asked where my favourite Cafe’s are to shnackk and sip coffee and which ones best cater for Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, Soy Free options etc...
Because unfortunately I have an array of food allergies and intolerances and it’s starting to become a common thing as the generations roll on - but we are totally in 2019 now and there are FINALLY so many Cianna-Friendly options available now!!! I mean... I’ve only been waiting since 2012 for simple things like macadamia milk and un-artificial sweeteners but that’s okayyyy, better late than never lollll
And plus, I’ve learnt so much about nutrition simply because of all the hinderances I’ve had to face with it!
You’d be surprised just how many artificial sweeteners are used in things - and artificial sweeteners alone just ROCK my digestive system like you wouldn’t believe haha. Just one of the many things I say a big NO-NO to now!♀️
.
So if you know any awesome Organic Cafe’s around the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane or Gold Coast area, pretty please comment them below as I can never get enough and am keen to check them out

FOOD ALLERGIES VS. INTOLERANCES
This is a HUGE source of confusion, so let's clear it up! They're BOTH important, but differ in how your body responds to foods ➡️ different symptoms.
.
FOOD ALLERGIES cause an IMMUNE response because your body perceives the food as a threat. These reactions can range from mild to life-threatening and should be diagnosed by an allergist.
The most common #foodallergies are tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soy, wheat, fish + shellfish.
SYMPTOMS of a food allergy usually present immediately (within 2 hours): hives, itchiness, swelling of the skin, diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, difficulty breathing, anaphylaxis, loss of consciousness, throat closing + more.
.
FOOD INTOLERANCES trigger an unwanted response (usually digestive symptoms), but are not life-threatening.
Intolerances may occur due to an absent enzyme to digest food or sensitivities (i.e.: Those who are "lactose intolerant" can't break down lactose in dairy because they don't have (enough of) the enzyme lactase.)
Some people may be able to tolerate small amounts of the foods they're intolerant to without any symptoms.
SYMPTOMS of #foodintolerances can be delayed, even by days: bloating, gas, stomach pains, eczema + more, which can make intolerances hard to identify.
.
Do you have any questions about the differences between food allergies + intolerances? Let's chat about it! #foodallergyawarenessweek .
P.S. This GLUTEN FREE ITALIAN PASTA SALAD is now updated on the blog - free from top 8 food allergens and a common intolerance (gluten!) >>>> https://chelseyamernutrition.com/gluten-free-italian-pasta-salad/ (linked in story)
Realities of living with food allergies Being Food Allergy Awareness Month , I want to talk about important topics: cross-contamination, privilege, food choices, health, and the wellness space.
.
Everyday I see messages about avoiding common, mainstream, “big food” ingredients to better your health, and that’s great... ☝ if you can afford it and if products without said ingredients are produced in a facility that’s SAFE for you. Choosing these specialty products isn't always feasible...and THAT'S OK! Eating 100% organic, avoiding all additives and preservatives, and feeling free to dine at “healthier” establishments is a PRIVILEGE... both financial and practical, if you have food allergies. So if you feel frustrated by what you see on Instagram, you’re not alone (and I'm sorry if I've contributed to that feeling in any way by showing certain products).
.
My body has been SO much more sensitive since getting pregnant (ie: feeling itchy when I haven’t eaten anything I‘m allergic to!). I’ve gone to much greater lengths over the past 8 months (versus the previous 30 years of my life) to avoid ANY cross-contamination ♀️... Down to switching what brand olive oil I use, emailing dozens of companies weekly about cleaning practices for their equipment, and limiting dining out like crazy (the anxiety is real).
.
It can be frustrating when we can't choose the exact products we want (because of allergies, finances, geography, etc.), and no, I don’t have a solution... But if you're frustrated/annoyed/upset because you can’t partake in certain “wellness” practices, I SEE YOU. You’re not alone. And most importantly, THIS DOESN'T MEAN YOUR HEALTH IS IN JEOPARDY! You’re doing what you need to do to keep yourself safe - and that’s the most important when you live with severe allergies!
.
If you have food allergies, have you ever thought about this?! I know it’s been super frustrating for me, especially when I can't try new products or have to choose a product (like ketchup) with more preservatives because the "natural" form has a risk of cross-contamination, but it's all in the name of staying safe!
Apple Pie Fritters, where to start… Do you struggle with breakfast? What’s the hardest part for you? I’d like to think that these Apple Pie Fritters can help with said problems. Although they look too good to be true, here’s what I can tell you: they’re #refinedsugarfree #glutenfree #vegan #top8allergyfree and a few more free and friendly things.
I’ve been on a mission as of late to take all the guess work out of delicious allergy & special diet friendly breakfasts. These Apple Pie Fritters (recipe on RAISE) are one of the products of said mission. Have any thoughts on what we should tackle next? •

2. Wie ich gelernt habe…
mit meinen Intoleranzen umzugehen!
-> Fortsetzung folgt später!
