8 weeks to go until the @edinburghmarathonfestival and my BQ attempt. And I’m VERY nervous. I have 8 weeks to get into gear which doesn’t feel like a long time. I often feel really sluggish while in a ‘recovery’ part of training, as I am currently after the @lamarathon. So I can’t wait to ramp up the pace and volume again, and get back to @goperform to build the strength! “But my foundation’s solid.” - •• This last month has been a bit of a mess. •• I’ve traveled twice up north in a blizzard, my dog died, my Grumps passed away, my health has changed leading to a bit of weight gain, and so much more. •• Running wise I missed 4 straight days, missed 2 big long runs, peroneal tendonitis, calf pull on my latest long run cutting it short, and majority of my runs have been 9:00 or slower. . •• Honestly, Saturday’s “shake out run” went so bad I cut it short. . •• I didn’t want to run Sunday. I have had my eyes set on a marathon so I’ve done nothing for a half. •• When people asked about my goals for Sunday I said: “I’m going to give it hell and whatever that gets me.” - thinking 7:40 pace. •• I stood on the start line and prayed. •• Mile 1: 6:57. Mile 2: 7:08 Mile 3: 7:05. . •• I smiled. I felt SO good. So I kept going at that pace. . •• You see, running for me has always been my “solid”. My go-to. & I don’t need a race to tell me that - but this is why it felt so damn good to PR. . •• I always hope my page shows you the real - the “I don’t have a Runners body but here I am” & the “my life’s not perfect but I showed up anyways”. •• We ALL have stuff going on. Doubts. Bad runs. Bad days. & moments when you just want to cry. •• Funny how the last day of the month it clicked - & to think I almost didn’t go. ••

‘For my next marathon, I will document my entire training on Instagram’ - Charlotte. Well, guess who didn’t. And I’m happy with it - can recommend you to don’t do it either. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. I find it boring. ‘Today I ran 5k through Hyde Park’, ‘Today I ran home from work, 10k’ - okay, good for me but who is actually interested in every single run I do. I would find it boring to share that stuff on daily basis. For me it’s more about sharing the experiences and learnings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. My journey is not one I would recommend. No journey is perfect, so is mine, and I’m very okay with that - it’s all about managing your expectations. But if you’re aiming for a fast time and look at my runs, well please don’t, it’s a mess. I don’t follow a specific plan and wing it now based on my experiences so it’s very personal and in no way an example to follow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Most important: running is about having fun for me, not a chore of planning, running, tracking and posting. I’m afraid it will lose it’s charm and feeling of freedom when I feel the need to plan and document everything. I use strava since the start of 2019 and already notice that I secretly put additional pressure on myself based on the analyses in the app. That’s not aligned with my idea of fun and freedom. Afraid that posting everything will make that feeling worse ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are your thoughts on this, am very curious about it! The last 7 weeks of cardiology & pulmonology have been ROUGH — I’ve had more than my fair share of mental breakdowns :) ❤️ this block is finallllly almost over — heart & lungs is the bread & butter of medicine (vegan butter, that is) so it’s been really cool to learn all the stuff that affects soooo many patients and is relevant to every specialty. Time to start studying for this big mama exam tho I’m not the type of person who goes into hibernation during exam week though, I try to stick to my normal sleep schedule & routine even when it’s exam time. Pulling all nighters, forgoing talking to friends or eating or exercising might save time in the short term, but long term that just burns me out and makes me miserable. I’d much rather stop studying when I start to feel burnt out and just take a break than try and push through and not learn very well, while just exhausting myself. big breakfast is on of my NECESSITIES for happy studying; can’t study on an empty tummy — my brain needs the energy! My turmeric oatmeal with berries, granola, and coconut is full of carbohydrates, fiber, omega 3s, antioxidants & vitamins ⚡️ SO GOOD! I swear a good breakfast makes all the difference in my day. #veganbreakfast

Hi My name is Krista and apparently I like the color pink. ‍♀️ 6 birthday miles made for an eventful morning! We are on the 3rd day of our hydration challenge and I’m AMAZED at how much better I feel! I love that about water... it doesn’t take much time to feel the positive effects of simply hydrating your body properly for a few days! Tagging my challenge girls because they are all killing it and keeping me accountable!
