Something about walking for miles on end, finally arriving at a beautiful location, feeling completely exhausted, and seeing miles of beautiful terrain really makes me respect and connect with the land. Last February I hiked to this arch in Canyonlands, and didn't see another soul for the entire 26 miles. The hike passes through a sandstone wall that contains petroglyph handprints, left hundreds (or thousands?) of years ago by ancient people. 88 days. That’s how long it had been since my last hike, but man it felt great to get back to the mountains and hit the trails this week. All the signs of snowmelt brings excitement of the hiking adventures to come this season! @zealoptics : @shotswithmike

If you told me 2 months ago that I would be running regularly, training for what will be my longest day on the trail yet, I’d say you were insane. I’ve been a fitness instructor for 6 years, and I’ve tried basically every workout out there, but for some reason, I never liked running. I also like to do things that take me out of my comfort zone. So 2 months ago, I decided to start running again. I signed up for a race and just went for it. Luckily, my training went better than I expected, and I picked up some good tricks along the way. Another day, another flower field. Also Portland is going to be nearly 90 degrees this week so I guess it’s summer already. ‍♀️ time to find some new swimming spots and get out in the water again.
