Starting the day off with one of my favorite albums. I was 13 when I bought it. . Next to "Out of the Blue", "Face the Music" from 1975 shows what an excellent songwriter Jeff Lynne really is. . Of all the 80s band reunions in the 2000s, none have given me more bang for my buck than #Europe . I was looking around on Amazon for the newest #GreatWhite album in 2013 to prepare for seeing them in concert, and I happened across this #BagOfBones CD. I knew Europe had recorded a reunion record back in 2004. I had no idea they had recorded 3 more after that (thru 2012)! I ordered it up that day, and here it is at disc no. 1325 in #mycdcollection . What can I say about this fourth reunion album with #JohnNorum that I wouldn't say about the three that preceded it? Absolutely nothing! They are all fantastic and, in many ways, better than their 80s albums. I will always love #TheFinalCountdown because that's where my Europe listening days started, but it is no longer my favorite from them since they reunited. Bag Of Bones is not my favorite of the reunion albums, but it's practically just as good as the one I like most. Album No.195 is Inferno by Motörhead. I found this album on eBay. The reason why I bought this album was because my first ever Motörhead song I've ever heard is on this disc. The song is called "In the Name of Tragedy", which I discovered on iTunes and downloaded back in my downloading days. Also, I initially thought that this album was out of print at the time, so I ordered this album brand new off of eBay just so I could have this in my hands. Anyway, when I first listened to this album, I soon realized that there are even better songs than just "In the Name of Tragedy" on this disc. With that said, this album is just fantastic, and it happens to be one of my favorite Motörhead albums ever made. In fact, it might be my personal favorite Motörhead album from the new millennium, even though I haven't heard every one of their albums so I can't be too sure (but it sure ranks up there though in my view). The guitar riffage and solos from Phil Campbell (and the guest solo from the one and only Steve Vai on "Terminal Show") sound really energized, especially with those riffs that make me want to hop on a Harley and ride. Also, Lemmy's vocals and bass guitar playing sound great as ever on this disc. Interestingly enough, the album takes a surprising turn in country/blues with the closing song called "Whorehouse Blues". Even though I'm not into country whatsoever, the song does sound interesting as it does sound like it was used in Sons of Anarchy at some point (even though it wasn't). My favorite songs from this album are "Terminal Show", "Killers", "Suicide", "Life's a Bitch", "In the Black", and "Smiling Like a Killer". As I strolled down memory lane today, I came across this original sound track recording that was a member of my small collection close to 50 years ago. . I didn't see the film until much later and I'm trying to remember who gave me this LP as a present (unusual, I think, for a young boy to be given the sound track to a film which was definitely not for his age group). . What I do remember though is that, as a result, Simon & Garfunkel's "Greatest Hits" became one of the first LPs that I bought with my own money in 1972. I bought this self-titled #KingsX album back in 1992 after hearing "Black Flag" on #BeavisAndButthead . I really liked that song, but found that I wasn't interested in much else on the record so I got rid of it. Twenty plus years later, I added it back to #mycdcollection at disc no. 1324 because I wanted "Black Flag" back in my library. Nowadays, I really dig "The World Around Me" and "Lost In Germany," and I'm able to listen to the rest but I still don't love it. It's mainly good for background music if I'm focusing my attention on other things. This album kicked off a string of four King's X albums in a row that I enjoy more than the rest of their catalog. I realize I'm in the minority of King's X fans when I say that their first 3 albums haven't done much for me up to this point, but #Dogman, #EarCandy and #TapeHead are all fantastic records. This one is alright, but it's definitely my least favorite of the four. By the way, is it weird that I only recently noticed the band logo is on the album cover?
