We are having a slight problem in our kitchen right now. So my son Michael came up with a DIY on how to solve it. I shared it on my stories last night and thank you for the hundreds of messages. You all had so many great ideas and suggestions and thanks for being honest that you have had this problem too. I thought for a long time whether or not I should share this. But I have always promised to share my life as it really is on Instagram. I guess you could say it doesn’t get more real than this. I am about to head downstairs to see if Michael’s DIY worked. I thought about waiting until he woke up but that would probably be about four more hours or so. So fingers are crossed!

Today is my first official all day cooking and baking day. (I hope to do this every Wednesday where I try new recipes I have created.) I am so excited and I am hoping I can make four different recipes. I borrowed this idea from my friend @julieblanner as she is the most talented blogger and organized person I know! She is so focused and I just love her. In fact, you should head on over to her Instagram @julieblanner and see what I mean. She has her act together like no one else! You will love her. My groceries are bought and my recipes are all written. Now all I have to do is bake and taste. Oh darn. It’s going to be such a rough day. Haha. Nothing is better than fresh flowers and I have decided to make trips to the LA flower mart a part of my regular weekly schedule. I am making some changes around here personally and most will apply to how I run my business. Wednesday’s will be for cooking so I will spend the entire day creating new recipes. And hopefully photographing too! Thursday’s are craft days. Because I always have a gazillion DIY craft projects to finish. And if we are in town I will be at the flower mart on Saturday mornings. Why am I doing this? Because I need to work on deadlines farther in advance. My business has a lot of deadlines and these 60-70 hour work weeks are wearing on me. Let’s see if I can work smarter and not harder for a change. Wish me luck!

Sometimes we try things and they work. Take this table setting I created last year for Mother’s Day. I made the vintage lights (from old lampshades and a light kit) and strung them up in the trees to create an outdoor dining room. In our backyard. I was so happy with the outcome that I had tears in my eyes. These last two days my son @michaelsaeta and I have been trying our best to rid our home of some recent uninvited guests. If you haven’t seen my stories you can go to my highlights and look for “DIY rat traps”. We (well, not really me, it’s been all of Michael’s inventions) have tried for two days to do the humanitarian thing and catch this pest so we (I mean he) could release this pest down at the arroyo. But our efforts haven’t worked. So today I called in the professionals. We have one more night to try again and then tomorrow the guys in the hazard suits will show up with everything they need to catch this pest (and any friends or relatives they may also be hiding in our home.) I might have exaggerated a bit about the suits but you know what I mean. I never imagined so many of you would join me for this journey. You provided great advice, humor and concern over this situation. I can’t even begin to thank you. This community is simply amazing. Thanks for reinforcing that real life issues and humor do have a place on Instagram. (Ok, maybe not in my feed but definitely in my stories!)
