SWIPE FOR A KILLER CORE WORKOUT After my back day @falcettiphysiquesolutions put me through a short core workout but I’m so sore it may look easy in the video but don’t knock it till you try it!! All we did was.. 1️⃣ 4 sets of 12 on decline sit-ups 2️⃣ 4 sets of 8-12 on decline leg raises. (Increased the decline as the sets went on) For both of these you can progressively overload by simply increasing the height of the bench. Just make sure you get that full stretch at the bottom and full contraction at the top

I’ve been thinking a lot about my running goals lately ... probably because Boston Marathon is tomorrow. A few years ago I really thought I could get to Boston. My plan was to start chipping away at my marathon time to qualify for Boston. But after a few disappointing marathons and a knee injury I kinda threw that goal out the window. I’m not even signed up for a race this year because the motivation isn’t there, I’m still frustrated with my knee, and I think I finally realized yesterday it brings back a lot of emotions with my dad ❤️❤️ He was also a runner, not a marathoner, but we always cheered him on at our local road races when we were younger ‍♀️ . But with Boston tomorrow and all of the excitement around it, I think I wanna try for it one more time... but train my way. But we’ll see!!! I wont be running a full this year but I’m still looking for a fall half and then I’ll go from there!! . Best of luck to all of the Boston runners tomorrow. I’ll be cheering you on! *caption unrelated to image* Muscular Energy: Muscular action energy is sourced from Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP releases energy through a chemical reaction that helps form a Myosin-Actin bridge in muscle fibres that facilitate muscle contraction. There are 3 primary ways ATP is produced and used in the body. The energy source varies based on the duration of muscular action in the body. 1. Phosphacreatine ATP (PC-ATP)- this is anaerobic and is the simplest and shortest duration supply of ATP that kicks in immediately when energy is required by the musculature. Typically high energy short duration. 2. Glycolytic System - anaerobic and aerobic. Glucose and Glycogen are broken down (using 1 ATP) and produce 2 and 3 ATP. Typically used between 30-50 seconds or 8-12 reps. 3. Oxidative System - this system has 3 subcategories that work together to produce ATP and is used for longer term energy production 1. Aerobic Glycolysis works like the above but with oxygen and produces Acetyl CoEnzyme A which helps the Krebs Cycle 2. The Krebs Cycle produces 2 ATP+CO2+Hydrogen 3. Electron Chain Transport uses the hydrogen from the Krebs Cycle Waste to produce 1 ATP Glucose (carbs) produces 35-40 ATP each. Fat produces 129 ATP but requires far more oxygen so glucose is the preferred energy source. ATP efficiency and production is affected by the foods we each and the cardiovascular health of our bodies. If you want to extend a set and do drop sets or circuit work remember the ATP system changes as you continue on.
