Without further ado, allow me to reintroduce your fave, Nurse Niesha, BSN, RN!!
~~~
After the whirlwind of events surrounding graduation weekend, it quickly became apparent that my studying want even closer to being over. For the past two months, hours were spent each day reading reviewing notes and reading practice test on practice test. For a long time, it seemed like it would never end.
~~~Finally, this Tuesday, I sat down to take these NCLEX, hoping for 75 questions but preparing for 265 just in case. 50 minutes later, I stumbled out of the testing center, shocked that I'd finished so quickly. Two days later, I'm happy to announce that I passed! ~~~
~~~These past few years have been a wild ride, and I know I've grown from it. From being a clueless freshman in a vaguely familiar city, to a disillusioned Junior nursing student that needed therapy, to a BSN graduate, and now an official Registered Nurse, God has prepared me to become the competent woman you see today!! I can't wait to start working smack dab in the middle of the field that I love, as a Labor and Delivery nurse at George Washington University Hospital, in just a few weeks. Can't wait to start the rest of my life! ~~~
~~~To all of my classmates, I love you all, and know that each and every one of you is destined to be great! No matter where you are in this wack licensing process, what God has for you is for you and no one can come between that. You all are incredible and beautiful and I'm honored to have gone on this journey with you. I love us, and can't wait to see what everyone has in store for your lives!❤️

Today was family reunion day! Thankfully I didn’t get any, “Can you tell me what’s wrong with me?” questions. But my grandma made sure to tell everyone, “She’s a nurse now!” ♀️ quick tip: try not to make eye contact so that people won’t ask you medical questions. lol #nurse #newgradnurse #RN #BSN #NursesofInstagram
You’re doing WHAT as a new grad?!

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know that a couple months before graduation, I accepted my ✨dream job✨ at a teeny rural hospital. It’s a part-time role that has me working med-surg, ER, OB, and outpatient wound care and infusions! Yep, all of the above. Yep, part-time. Yep, without a residency program.
If you’ve been following me for awhile AWHILE you know that when I started nursing school, I wanted to get a residency position in the ICU or the ER at a big hospital.
So what changed?!
Well, nothing really. Except that I got real with myself — about the stories I was telling myself and what I really wanted. I was thinking that the ICU and ER residency positions would be glamorous. Important. Significant. I was chasing external factors instead of really thinking about what I valued internally, and realizing that importance and significance are found in ALL areas of nursing.
In our class, for example, we had grads accept positions in all kinds of hospital residency positions, but also at the county jail, in a dermatology clinic, and in home health. And that’s the wonderful part about nursing — there truly is something for everyone.
I guess what I’m trying to say is: keep an open mind. Say “yes” to every opportunity in school. You never know where the path will lead. ⚡️ What’s your dream job?! Did it change as you went through school or your career?
