There is nothing more magical than a new born baby animal. His story started off tragically as his mom was hit by car on sunken meadow parkway. A Good Samaritan saw the accident and stopped to see if the mom survived only to discover that she was pregnant. The impact caused her to go into immediate labor and she gave birth to twins. Despite our best efforts mom passed and only one baby survived. Rarely do you get in a fawn this young and this little. I immediately made a frantic call to #fuzzyfawnwildlife for advice. “If you aren’t following her account you should!” Here we are feeding the fawn colostrum which he would normally get nursing from his mom. We have a long road ahead of us, but I know this little guy is a survivor! Thank you Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta for stopping to make the life saving call about the deer to sweetbriar and thank you Good Samaritan for trying to save the sibling by performing CPR for 1/2 hour!
