Officially 6 months down! I still have a long way to go but I’m already so far from where I used to be.

Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible. .

This week will be my first week on the floor officially as a Registered Nurse. Excited, but a little scared. I know that the ICU is probably one of the most challenging units to work in, but this is my moment. This is it... 4 years of school to finally be here.
Got a lot of learning to do! ⚕️

When I create content & ask questions around why Nurses are stating in toxic environments and not following/building their dreams, it’s the same story: FEAR. They let afraid to leave. They’re afraid to interview somewhere else. They’re afraid to start over. They’re afraid to lose pension. They’re afraid to lose benefits. They’re afraid to take lower pay. They’re afraid to deal with the discomfort of telling their managers & riding out leaving. They’re afraid to let others down. They’re afraid they won’t make enough money. They’re straight up AFRAID of making a mistake or regret related to ALL OF THE ABOVE! .
.
.
Listen. I’m here to drop a GIANT truth bomb to you guys. FEAR is not a rational reason to stay in a toxic environment or job that you don’t like. You WILL NOT make a mistake. YOU WILL NOT have regrets! We make it out like those feelings are out of our control! The only REALITY are outcomes. Mistakes are subjective. REGRETS are subjective. OUTCOMES are objective. When we make a decision, we generate an outcome based on what happens with that decision. What ever that outcome is, we respond to it. Period. If the job wasn’t what we thought it would be, we get another new job. If the income isn’t enough for that less toxic job, we figure out a way to make more money. If we lose our pension or our benefits, we figure out a way to save differently. The ONLY true limitations for you sitting in that toxic environment & Job are the irrational fears & lies sitting in you minds. YOU WON’T HAVE REGRETS BC YOU ARE IN CONTROL. YOU WON’T MAKE A MISTAKE BC YOU ARE IN CONTROL. The only thing thing you have are decisions with outcomes. If they aren’t the outcomes we desired, we keep moving until we create the career & life we love. Time to shift ❤️
Updates because I’ve been quiet on here

1️⃣ I truly enjoy my job so far, there’s so much to learn in my unit because the patient population is so diverse. Getting used to the increasing patient load every week - hoping to improve my time management, trust my assessments, and be more confident in my charting. It’s so easy to ask your preceptor what she thinks something should be charted as, but I am working towards independence!! I feel like this definitely improves with time and experience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ Just finished orienting on days and going to orient on nights starting this week wish me luck!! If you have any tips on how to survive, please share
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣ Taking full advantage of my nurse schedule - I just booked a spontaneous trip to Cancun with my bff next week don’t mind me, just booking vacations acting like I don’t have loans to pay!!

Recipe to perseverance:
Wet eyes for no more than 5 minutes.
Pad dry.
Add mascara.
Carry on.
This has been a great summer! I travelled, I came I saw I conquered!.. I’m excited that nursing school starts back in 5 weeks! I’m ready for the long nights and early morning mixed in with stress tears and copious amount of studying hours. I’m ready to start loading Nurse Leek again...
Nursing school can definitely be a beast if you let it. But you got this Sis, you’re allowed to cry but when you’re done get back to it like you never left. & that’s for anything in life. Fall down seven, get up eight. ✨
It’s a party in the USA! Happy 4th friends!! Dress is from @thepinklilyboutique and they are having a 40% off sale RN on everything listed under their 4th of July tab and free shipping!! So you wanna be a travel nurse but the thought of your first assignment being more than you can handle is holding you back.
“I have 2 years of experience but I still don’t feel ready. Will I ever feel ready?”
“How am I supposed to be prepared with only 2 days of orientation?”
“What if the nurses are catty and I’m treated unfairly because I’m a traveler?”
I get it. There’s a lot of things that could go wrong and jumping into travel nursing is a daunting task for anyone (especially if you’re doing it all alone).
But who says you have to do this all by yourself?
I’ve been in your shoes before. I know exactly what steps you need to take to get you from where you are now to living your dream the quickest and easiest way possible. Having a mentor like me to guide you sets you up for SUCCESS which allows you to get further FASTER.
TAKING THE LEAP DOESN’T HAVE TO BE STRESSFUL, OVERWHELMING OR SCARY.
» What if you gain the CONFIDENCE you need to take the leap once you have a mentor like me by your side?
» What if you start your first day of orientation feeling EMPOWERED because you‘be been prepared with all of the resources and tools you need to succeed?
» What if you joined a group of welcoming, friendly, supportive nurses and y’all took the leap TOGETHER?
If you enrolled in the #travelnursecourse two months ago, where would you be RIGHT NOW?
Let me know your biggest obstacle below and I’ll tell you how this program can help you overcome it✨
