Once in a life time experience a yesterday trying to save a beached orca whale off the southern coast of Tasmania. Many hands made light work but unfortunately the tide was against them. Pack Ice Orcas & Wave Washing- Type B killer whales, also known as “Pack Ice Killer Whales”, live in Antarctic waters and feed exclusively on seals. In order to catch seals who have hauled out on ice floes, Pack Ice Killer Whales engage in a dramatic cooperative hunting behavior known as wave-washing. So this morning I woke up to several nasty messages from vegan activists on my instagram, resulting in a quick fifteen minutes of deleting and blocking . It never fails to baffle me how firstly these people feel like they know so much better than we trainers do and never hesitate to personally attack us. Secondly how they constantly ask us to watch Blackfish and get educated, as if we haven't seen it and as if watching a twisted, biased documentary would change our minds about anything . So if you are going to listen to anyone's opinion, listen to the people who actually have experience and spend every single day around these animals. And if you hate captivity? That is your opinion! But it does not belong in the comments section of my instagram page .
