Made some cookies the other day after church I love cooking and baking and always add a little bit of the holy water (also pictured) to all the food that I make. I also brought home some fresh and beautiful spring blossoms and now everything is filled with their fragrance. “God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:8-11

Elizabeth has confused ‘mad’ with ‘mean’ and it’s actually pretty hilarious. She’ll be like “mommy are you still mean?” Or “mommy you look mean” It’s true that I do get mad and I guess I look ‘mean’ when I’m mad. She’s even shown me what my face looks like by modeling it, and I can’t help but feel embarrassed and smile because I totally got caught by my 3 years old It gives me the perfect opportunity to reconcile and model humility for her. Gosh, kids don’t let us get away with anything and thank God. She even told my husband “is mommy mean at you? She looks mean.” Oh my child It made both of us laugh. It was the perfect way to diffuse the situation. I need lots of grace, forgiveness and I thank God for the purity in children. She sees the world plainly and she’s helping me be a better person every day. . . Also, this photo is my absolute favorite photo of us ever! It’s beautiful, makes me smile, and it reminds me that even though I get mad, loose my , and have days of sheer chaos, these girls are my treasures- my path to salvation. Together we are striving to be better people (of course they are much more advanced in this regard) and to sharing our light with those around us!! My dear @alexiselmassih has outdone herself ! Maybe it’s because I work with and for moms every day, or maybe it’s because my life is and always has been full of the most incredible women, but women supporting other women is so important to me. Sometimes I even turn into a mama bear about it. (Okay, more like a little tiny bear cub that wants to fight on behalf of all the fierce lady bears she knows). So of course, I wrote about it (and some other stuff too). . . (Link in profile).

Are you an onion or a cake? Do you remember that scene in Shrek: . Shrek: For your information, there's a lot more to ogres than people think. Donkey: Example? Shrek: Example? Okay, er... ogres... are... like onions. Donkey: [sniffs onion] They stink? Shrek: Yes...NO! Donkey: Or they make you cry. Shrek: No! Donkey: Oh, you leave them out in the sun and they turn brown and start sproutin' little white hairs. Shrek: NO! LAYERS! Onions have layers. OGRES have layers. Onions have layers... you get it. We both have layers. Donkey: Oh, you both have layers. [pause] You know, not everybody likes onions. [pause] CAKES! Everybody loves cakes! Cakes have layers! . . . I’ve never related to a movie scene more in my life It’s like talking to a toddler about who I am and what I’m about. But really, I’ve found myself in a hard season of changes. I’m shedding a new layer (of cake or onion peel, you decide ) and gosh darn it’s difficult. You know what word perfectly summarizes motherhood for me? Transformation. Each day I am being transformed, shedding another layer of my old self and becoming a new creation. So when i find myself in a particularly difficult season, I remember that there’s beauty in this struggle. Struggle is guaranteed in life! But I get the choice on how I handle it. I can choose to either lean into it and draw nearer to Christ, or resist the challenges and find myself in misery and despair. Despite the challenges ahead, I will choose see the beauty in it and be thankful for the struggle. . Last year I wrote a blogpost I called it “Beauty in the struggle.” I linked it in my profile When I wrote that, I was in a ‘cake season’ of life (really going with this analogy ). It was a piece of and I knew my onion days were ahead. Well guess what? I’m in the onion layer phase now- Where the layers you’re shedding are stinky and make your eyes cry. But at the end of this transformation, I will be a new creation so I’m embracing it. What season of life are you in? Are you a cake or onion? Tell me below Where are you in this life journey?

It’s good to be back!!! After missing church 2 Sunday’s in a row, we finally made it back today! Praying this is the end to Spring sickness Anyone else feel like you’re whole week a like the Twilight zone when you don’t go to church Sunday? I’m like, “what day is it?” I have no clue! ‍♀️ . . . For us, Sunday’s are the highlight of our week. We absolutely love it! Since we live at the seminary, we do most services at the chapel on campus, but Sunday is the day we make the 45min drive to Brooklyn to spend the day with our church family out there. It has been such a privilege to watch my husband serve, and to teach my children about Christ here. This church was established by St Raphael of Brooklyn (you can see his relics on the left of this photo). It’s humbling walking in knowing the Saints have walked these same floors and prayed in this same church. What a joy it is to serve the Lord along with my children and the saints! . . When sissy is away, we go on picnics and play Elizabeth went on a special movie date with daddy and grandma (lucky girl!) and we took a nice nap, had a little picnic by the stream and took pictures and went back home for another nap. I’d say it was a productive afternoon with just the two of us!
