Happy #FreshFaceFriday! One of my secrets to great skin is to let your face breathe—and I don't wear makeup every day. Often I'll just grab sunglasses and a bright lipstick and run out the door. I believe skincare is the new makeup. When your skin is clear and glows you don't need a lot of that other stuff. I've actually been using Radiant Defence Perfecting Liquid by @rodanandfields—and I confess that I haven't worn foundation in months. With SPF 30 and 6 tints, it's perfect for summer. I'm wearing Shell #1 which I share with my daughter. That, and their Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex, are seriously game-changers. I barely use any concealer under my eyes because it brightens and hydrates so well. I've always been a beauty junkie. I should mention I do use the Redefine regimen from R&F but I mix in a lot of other beauty brands as well. Right now a couple of my faves include @glowrecipe's watermelon line and their green tea toner, and I've rediscovered my @katesomerville Wrinkle Warrior—and for the life of me I'm not sure why I ever stopped using it. Being happy in your own skin. I never have been but I’ve slowly come to accept it more. I wish I had appreciated my body and my skin in my youth a hell of a lot more than I did. But as I turned 40yrs old last year, I’ve come to appreciate it more than I ever did before. My body has given me my two babies. I’m healthy and I can run a bit. I drink too much gin and eat too much chocolate. But I eat healthily 85% of the time. And life’s about balance right? My face has seen me through 40yrs of life and laughs and highs and lows and I can’t believe I post my make up free face as often as I do. If you’d told me 2yrs ago that I’d be posting my face au natural to over 100,000 people I’d have laughed in your face. I wish I could eat what I wanted and have a size 8 figure and washboard stomach. I wish my eyebrows still grew. I wish I didn’t have cellulite. I wish my inner thighs didn’t resemble squishy marshmallows. But none of that really matters in the grand scheme of things does it? I guess what I’m trying to say is, appreciate what you have right now as one day you’ll wish you’d appreciated it more. Life is short. Be silly, be different, be crazy, be fun. Thought I would have a little fun taking you behind the scenes to show you a before & after #portraitedit & tell you how I do my edits (swipe left) . . I think the number 1️⃣ question I get asked is, what app or #preset do I use on my pics . So here goes y'all (BTW I love saying y'all even though I'm a Northerner ) forgive me to all my beautiful southern friends for borrowing your 'y'all' . . Oh and just so ya know, I do not use allot (if at all) of face softening...what I prefer instead is great natural lighting so much more beautiful effect than apps I think...great natural light will give you the best complexion, softening deeper wrinkles and almost eliminating fine lines . . Tip: you will find the best natural light at sun up or sun down but you can still get a great soft look outdoors at midday if it is somewhat overcast or indoors standing near a window, with the light hitting your face (that's how I got this shot) . So no I don't look this flawless in real life (close though kidding) . Also used my new camera for this shot (will talk about it in another post) Then I imported the image into my fav editing app #snapseed where I tweaked (exposure, saturation, ambiance, crop) then sent it to #adobelightroom app to apply a preset which I custom created . . I create my own but if you search Google or insta you will find a ton-o- preset options for purchase such a fast and fun way to give your images a little uniqueness. I also recommend @etsy Literally thousands of gorgeous affordable presets from talented content creators . . The first versus the last if you have a scroll through. Well that was an emotional rollercoaster and I’m glad I didn’t have any mascara on yesterday. So unbelievably proud of my two for the children that they are, and have become, during their time at Primary. From two tiny 4yr olds when you started, you’ve achieved more than I could ever have imagined. Cups, commendations and two very special chimney sweeps.
