✂️ONE HANDED KNOT TIES ✂️
———-
Pro tip from @functional_keto_pa you can practice knot tying with sutures on your pants! (in this case my @wearfigs)
————-
Practicing these knots because in OBGYN for the C-section cases and vaginal deliveries they have just been using one handed knot ties and no instrumental ties. It’s nice to practice with actual sutures so you remember what side the needle is and what hand needs to be tying the knot. ———-
For example when the surgeon sutures and asks us to tie the knot, I would have to use my left hand instead of right! So we have been practicing both.
————
No #wearfigs were harmed in the making of this video. And yes I should be wearing gloves but its harder to see the knots so I did not wear.

I am not always motivated. That’s just the honest truth. ⠀
⠀
One of the most common questions I get is “how do you stay motivated?” especially when posting about studying, rotations and long work days so it’s time I answered it once and for all. Yes I work hard and push myself to continuously learn and get things done but that doesn’t mean I am always ecstatic. I certainly try to be. I strive to be positive and optimistic about everything every single day. But the reality is, we all have ups and downs. Some days are better than others and you have to allow yourself to experience both. The low days make the high days feel that much more rewarding. If you punish yourself for having low motivation days you’ll actually become less efficient and lose yourself in dangerous thoughts of hesitation: “If I am not motivated how can I get through it?” Or even worse “if I am not motivated, am I even good enough for this?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So how do I do it? The key is to be confident about the decision you’ve made. Never ever doubt yourself. You’ve made a choice about the path you’re on and that decision has to always be your anchor. It’s your overarching motivation even on days that you’re unmotivated. When I am at the hospital on my 12th hour and I am exhausted, I think of the big picture: the moment I reach my dream and finally become a surgeon! SO my friend, if you decided to pursue a specific career and to get there you have to jump through 1000 hoops, then KNOW that and get through it one day at a time until you’ve made it to the finish line regardless of how hard some of those obstacles are. Let that confidence fuel your worth ethic and get you through this long road. And remember, nothing that’s worth it ever comes easy.
Happy Hump Day ⠀

How much sunscreen should you be applying?
If you do not apply enough sunscreen, you won’t be getting the maximum SPF protected listed on the bottle. Always apply ½ teaspoon of sunscreen to your face, and one ounce (think a full shot glass) to your body.
If you are outside all day, we recommend that you reapply sunscreen at least every hour, or after swimming or sweating.
