EPIC celebration at French Laundry Part 2 *Too difficult to cover all the wines in 1 post and all of them deserve a very special praise! Like 1961 Chateau Gazin (only 18 years older than Birthday boy ) Classic old Pomerol with notes of pencil shavings, leather, smoke, coffee beans, dried cherry, herbs de Provence and spice on finish. As long it’s a well-stored bottle it can blow your mind! It was perfectly paired with Parker House Roll and butter. Two bottles of Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 1966 and 1985 served side by side were outstanding! Perfectly aged so you can’t even tell there’s 20 years difference. ‘66 is another classic expression of St Julien with cigar box, pencil shavings, dried red fruit, tea leaf, rose hip, cedar and a touch of vanilla. Beautiful complex finish that keeps lingering in your mouth. ‘85 being just a little bit younger definitely has more pronounced aromas with dark chocolate, espresso, black cherry, forest floor, baking spice and sandalwood. I thinks it’s a perfect time to drink 85s right now! Both were paired with Charcoal Grilled Snake River Farms “Calotte De Boeuf”. That’s it for now... Ce soir dégustation d’un #pomerol du #chateaulafleurdegay en millésime #2010. Je n’avais jamais bu un de leur vin et ce 2010 est une belle entrée en matière. Mes premières notes de dégustions sont les suivantes: au nez, arômes de fruits, de fleurs et d’épices, une jolie touche boisée. En bouche, le vin fait preuve de finesse malgré des tanins bien présents qui doivent encore travailler pour s’affiner. La finale est courte.
