The thing about infertility is it’s never something you plan for, never something you imagine to be apart of your picture. We don’t grow up wondering if we’re going to be able to get pregnant one day.. we just expect it to happen when it’s time-our time, like it’s a guarantee. I wrestled with this so much in the beginning of our journey. (And still now- who am I kidding?) “This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.” “This isn’t fair.” “This isn’t how I pictured it.” “This isn’t what I deserve.” “This isn’t what we planned for.” As if I had control over it at all in the first place. I sure thought I did though, let me tell you. From the beginning of my husband and I’s relationship we began planning. First, finish school and get our degrees, get married, buy a house, get a dog, recommit our faith, pay off all debt, chase & reach our own personal dreams; mine with dancing, his with the Army. Build this life, all doing it in chronological order as to what we believed was “right” and THEN, then we could start our family. And just like any other human would think- we thought we’d start trying & BOOM.. be able to check off MAKE BABY from our list and live our life like we always pictured it. But instead, our picture became distorted when God handed us a season of waiting- rather than a season of baby. If I have learned ANYTHING from infertility, it’s that life doesn’t always go according to plan. But maybe sometimes we have to stop worrying, wondering, planning & have faith that things will work out. Maybe not exactly how we pictured it, but just how it’s meant to be.
