1988 Bertone Lamborghini Genesis ▪ www.archivioprototipi.it ▪ ▪ ▪ L’idea di un SUV Lamborghini ha sempre fatto accapponare la pelle ai fans duri e puri del marchio bolognese. Poi è arrivata la Urus. Ma molti anni prima la Carrozzeria Bertone aveva già provato ad immaginare una monovolume con il marchio del toro sulla calandra: la Genesis. Venne presentata al Salone di Torino nel 1988, nel periodo in cui la Lamborghini era controllata dalla Chrysler. Progettata da Marc Deschamps, la Genesis era una monovolume a cinque posti lunga quasi 5 metri, con un’ampia superfice vetrata, che lateralmente veniva attraversata da un barra rossa rendendola visivamente meno alta di quello che realmente era. Le portiere posteriori erano scorrevoli, mentre le anteriori, apribili ad ala di gabbiano, fornivano l'accesso ai sedili anteriori, le cui immense strutture erano sostenute da una trave centrale che collegava la base del parabrezza al tetto. Ciò implicava che il parabrezza era parte delle porte anteriori; una concessione fatta allo stile che avrebbe reso l'installazione dei tergicristalli veramente complicata. Una singola sedia centrale scorrevole era posizionata tra le due file di due posti. A bordo trovavano posto anche un fax, un televisore, sedili rivestiti in Alcantara e persino dei poggiapiedi. Meccanicamente, Bertone aveva dotato la Genesis del V12 della Countach Quattrovalvole che sviluppava ben 455 CV. Il motore V12 era stato accoppiato non con un tradizionale cambio manuale a 5 marce, ma con un cambio automatico Chrysler TorqueFlite. Yesterday marked the opening in Torino of yet another automotive bucket list destination: FCA Heritage Hub, a huge ex-industrial hall (15.000 m²) on the premises of the Mirafiori factory hosting some 250 cars from FCA's vast patrimony: the most important cars that in a way or another have shaped the history of the Italian automotive industry. Record cars, motorsport legends, prototypes or never seen before working "mules". And this brings us to the real bombshell for us alfisti: among these jewels sitting out in plane view, there are also 2 very special examples of the now discontinued Alfa Romeo 4C. Apparently those cars were developed as a Quadrifoglio version of the 4C but somebody, somewhere decided against it. No technical details are known at the moment but the our bet is that behind that extensive aero work there's also more muscle!
