Why haven’t I done this sooner⁣ ⁣ As women we do everything for everyone and often neglect ourselves. I know I do! With the twins going through teething and growth spurts and my toddler going through sleep regression things have been rough! ⁣ ⁣ This morning I was so tired I poured milk in the keurig not water ‍♀️ That was my sign I desperately needed sleep! I called up a sitter and made myself a meal. Once she came over I took it upstairs and ate in bed. I napped for 2 hours and took a long hot uninterrupted shower. Seriously, best day ever! ⁣ ⁣ So mamas, what is one thing you truly need right now? Sleep? A hot meal with no interruptions? A little girl time? Plan it out and do it! You NEED to take care of yourself too! What they say is true, you cannot pour from an empty cup.

when chris is home, he does what i want to do, we eat where i want to eat, and when isaac asks for something he responds with “ask your mother!”. he doesn’t complain and he rubs my back every night before bed. he’s not a morning person but he tries. he has a hard time sitting still but he does that for me too. sometimes when we are sitting down watching the boys play he smiles at me and says “you look so happy, i love seeing you happy”. despite our recent arguments about me feeling like we are doing all this work for nothing because he is not here and our family is not together, everything i could ask for happens in the time that we are together. short time is better than no time and more time isn’t always better. we’ve made it this far with what we do have so that must be enough.

L U X U R I E S ✨ | Oh yeah let’s talk about how our greatest desires change when we enter motherhood, aka they used to be far more grand than they are now. Because it’s the tiny things beforehand that we most took for granted, like, erm peeing alone?! Yes this is a photo of me holding my needy little bundle of cuteness as my undies are wrapped around my thigh as I Pee. There are a lot of little pleasures that I took for granted and if the mum-life fairies would like to reinstate them I would be chuffed: 1. Peeing alone. Seriously just want to reiterate how much I miss those little insta scroll breaks 2. Hot Coffee 3. Clean hair WITHOUT dry shampoo 4. Those minutes waiting for food to cook- what I would do for a few empty minutes now and the time to cook 5. Being sure of myself. Now I second guess EVERYTHING! Is that bottle really clean enough? Is the car seat really in properly? Is he really warm or cool enough? Who knows. Not me apparently. 6. Popping out. There is never a true “just popping to Tesco” “just popping over my friends” it is legit “not sure when I will be there or be home”. It takes me longer just to get ready to pop out now than it ever did to actually do it! 7. My mother- ok mum now I know what it’s like to be one so can you come round and do your mothering ALLLLL the time plz? 8. Date nights. Oh goodness I miss those spontaneous little evenings or walks to find a cute eatery. So here’s to the ladies who aren’t yet mamas- don’t take these things for granted anymore because there is 100% a mama out there wishing she could pee in peace. Oh and mamas- we will get these little things back again sometime (as we get better at winging and hustling motherhood) but isn’t it worth every little second? I mean I’ll probably look back at this photo when my tiny little baby is a 5 year old and just want it all back again!! The truth: becoming parents was one of the most difficult times of our relationship. Non-parent friends have asked me why things would change so dramatically and the simplest way I can put it is this: yes you know your person, but you don't know him as a father.
