SwimRun Пятигорск от @kavkaz.run ⠀ Нет, мне не кажется, но я снова хочу повторить этот старт! Как же было классно! ⠀ Формат не вписывается в рамки привычного Swim&Run, когда преодолеваешь дистанцию чередуя между собой короткие беговые и плавательные участки. Этот старт был прекрасен тем, что сначала ты можешь полностью сосредоточиться на плавании, а потом уже на беге, грамотно разложив силы и выбрав одну из двух дистанций: Pro (1.5 км + 10 км) и Lite (0.6 км + 3.5 км). Кроме этого, был формат эстафеты, где вы работаете в одной связке и каждый топит на своем участке. ‍♂️‍♀️ ⠀ Эстафета, так эстафета решили мы, а дальше все как во сне. Быстро обсудили технические вопросы, поставили ориентиры по времени и понеслось. Новопятигорское озеро, утро, хлещет ливень, температура воздуха холоднее температуры воды, гидрик запрещен, согреваемся как можем, у меня одна мысль «скорее бы старт», т.к. мышцы стремительно остывают. И вот обратный отсчет, прыжок. В теплой воде дрожь моментально отпускает, волн нет, вода чистая, плыть в кайф! Уверенно обхожу десятки участников, смотрю по сторонам, спасатели бдят и отслеживают каждое движение, т.к. очень много новичков. Вижу на берегу транзитную зону, втапливаю что есть сил, выбегаю, быстро передаю чип, сброс лишней одежды, все так быстро, будто проделывали уже не раз. Немного выдыхаю и иду в зону ожидания участников бегового этапа для совместного финиша. Легкое волнение и вот мы уже вместе мчим финишные 100 метров. Занавес! ⠀ Соревноваться с сильными пловцами и бегунами интересно, но главным было получить удовольствие от самого процесса. Каждый выложился как мог. Трудно только было дышать, высокая влажность и горы дали о себе знать в первый же день прилета. С нетерпением жду следующего старта SwimRun. The fastest 4x1 I ever coached (lane 6 - crimson singlets). My Florida Tech men’s relay team from 2017. These 4 ran 40.92, which was a provisional qualifying time for D2 nationals. The relay was comprised of 2 freshman jumpers (2nd leg: @ondrej.rapp and 4th leg: @urban_legend16 ), a 400 runner (3rd leg: @brookstah_18 ) and only one short sprinter (Leadoff: @iam_nicjr ). Nicardo was the sickest lead off leg in division 2. If you take the time to develop chemistry, the impossible can become reality. I had to make this post after watching the Brazil men win the 4x1 at the IAAF Relay World Championships, upsetting the USA. It doesn’t matter if you have the four fastest guys, what matters is how fast the stick can make it around the track. Last year, my boys 4x1 relay team (lane 3 - red) from Manalapan HS, which had no sub 11 runners, was able to run 41.71 by the end of the season. Here they run 42.47 to win sectionals. . The PB 100 times of the four legs were as follows: 11.03, 11.10, 11.10 and 11.58. You may ask, how is it possible that these four boys ran a sub 42? The key to their success was a focus on one thing, the stick never slowing down. They used SILENT exchanges, no stick calls. Yes, silent! I learned this trick from the great Carl Lewis who shared his secret to Houston’s 4x1 success at the USTFCCCA coaches convention two years ago. . The incoming runner focused on running to the middle of the zone, not the next runner. The outgoing runner accelerated hard to get to max speed and did not put his hand back to receive the stick till the 12th step. And we stretched the handoffs using 24-28 steps. Lets face It, being on a relay team is tough if you’re in last place when you get the baton. It can be discouraging but you need to focus. So many times I’ve seen a last place team make up ground and end up placing really well. Forget that you’re in last place and go out for that PR split. You might surprise yourself and pass a few people.

Last weekend I conquered my fears. … The fear of running up unknown trails, in the dark, through mud, ice, and snow on minimal amounts of sleep. The fear of not being enough, of being in my own head. Conquering the voice inside of me that told me that I couldn't, because I can. You can. We all can. … I only knew one of the 7 other women who were on my team prior to the race and I have to say they all were the best I could have asked for. Together we ran over 120 miles and climbed over 30,000ft in elevation on one of the hardest courses @ragnarrelay has come up with. It took us slightly over 30 hours. We didn't set out to be the fastest or toughest team but we still placed 5th of the women-only teams and I'm pretty proud of all of us. … A huge, huge thank you to @lexususa for loaning me their gorgeous LX570 SUV. It was large and comfortable enough to haul all of my teammates and I plus the plethora of gear we needed for camping and running in this race. The heated and cooled rear seats were an added bonus for the drive home. ⛺️ … I know I haven't posted to my feed a lot this week and to be honest, I needed a few days to wind down and grow from this experience.
