This is a post on how to replace missing or defective hardware, specifically button snaps. - Standard disclaimer stating that there are multiple techniques for this process & I’m not an expert. I’m just attempting to illustrate that anyone can learn this, & I wish to share my current favored methods. Blah, blah. - So this post (Part 1) is focusing on heavy duty snaps- like the type that pierces leather (think belts, bags, or boots) & heavier wool or dense woven fabrics. - You can buy the snaps in multiple sizes & colors on amazon, as well as the tools you need. Also available on other sites of course, & relatively inexpensive imho. - If a piece of the snap is missing or damaged, you can either replace only that part or choose to replace the entire snap. I’ve found that most snaps are standardized & replacing only the missing or damaged part works fine 90% of the time. - Each snap is composed of 4 pieces: Stud, Eyelet/Post, Socket, & Button/Cap. This belt is missing half of one snap- in this case the Stud and Eyelet/Post half. - I’m going to use a Snap Fastener and a Rubber Mallet to secure the new snap to my belt. - It’s important to use the correct tool for the snap type. An incorrect choice will result in a jacked up piece of defective hardware. I say this from experience & have the pictures to prove it. - I’m placing the two parts of the snap (one on each side) around the belt hole, & then I’ll be hammering them together. That little metal cylinder you see me holding in pic 4 is what you are hitting into the snap. The force of the mallet striking that tool is deforming the tip of the Eyelet/Post. (See pic 5) This is what’s securing those two pieces permanently together. - Your snap should be secure and not easily twisted or spun. Test to make sure your new hardware is indeed snapping closed easily and securely, and that you don’t see space gaps between the leather or fabric garment and the newly installed metal hardware. - Yay. You just replaced a snap. Same technique (but the two other pieces- Socket and Cap) if you also need to replace the inverse. - There’s too much to cover in one post, so Part 2 will cover Sew on Snaps & Screw on Studs. -

Ahh the things that make a reseller squeal in excitement: A NEW RING LIGHT! // One of my softbox lights just wouldn't stay up anymore due to a threaded out screw and it was the push I needed to commit to a ring light, cuz let's be honest, they aren't cheap! // This is the Neewer 18" dimmable (with stand that's bendable) version that you can get on Amazon, and the quality of it is great! It came with some accessories and was super easy to set up! // The amount of light it puts off is just as bright as two of my softbox lights too, which is awesome! // REAL TALK: It will take some time to get used to the light being right in front of me, as opposed to a softbox on each side of me and me standing in the middle, oooorrrr I may end up getting another one of these bad boys, not for the additional light, but because having just one light causes shadows when I step in front of it (to get the detail shots). // If I had another, then I could use them as I used my softboxes. One on each side also allows me to adjust the crop around the garment by stepping forward or backward in between the lights, as opposed to having to move the singular ring light forward or backward with me. // This isn't something I thought of right away, so for now, I'll be using the ring light in addition to my remaining solo softbox, and that will work great! // I'm definitely happy that the ring light is way smaller than the softbox, so that's another win for helping declutter my posh room!

Finally got around to prepping and listing this vintage 1960s Minnie Mouse sweater. This goes in the book as one of my favorite finds EVER. For anyone inquiring, it fits more like a medium (tag says large) but I’ve provided measurements in the listing itself @ me in the comments if you’re interested or have any more questions ✨
