“In hard times, you realize who your real friends are.” I actually hate this statement. It’s never said with grace, or gratitude, or compassion. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s always said with a tinge of bitterness and a whole host of resentment. “Now I know who my REAL friends are.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As if people are out there faking you. Jerking you around. Rejecting you. Intentionally hurting you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s the thing…and I learned this BIG when my husband died; some people have the capacity to ALSO take on your baggage, and some don’t. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My loss was BIG, people. It was big, and it swept through and affected anyone and everyone who loved me AND my husband. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ People are broken in this world, and everyone has their own demons and baggage and pain that they’re dealing with…so to write people off as being terrible people or not REAL FRIENDS because they couldn’t, in that moment, also take on your crap, just isn’t kind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It lacks compassion, I think, on your part. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have mercy! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are friends who were just sorta friends before my husband died, and when his loss racked our world, they SHOWED UP. These friends stepped in and offered to help carry this loss with me…and I’m incredibly grateful and thankful for these amazing souls. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are other friends, who were close friends when Larry passed. And at that time, for whatever reason (and this could be because I pushed them away, even) could not help me stand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They just couldn’t do it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And it’s not because they showed their “true colors” or because they weren’t my “real friends”…it was likely because my life and my current state was just too damn much for them to shoulder. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I get that for them. It was too much for me, and it was mine to shoulder, you know? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So can we stop using this spiteful passive aggressive language that assumes you’re a victim YET AGAIN…and try just a little bit to assume the best in everyone? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We’re all doing the best we can. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #schoolofgreatness #momlife#widowlife #youbelong #ceomindset#findyourflock #raisingleaders#lifecoaching #a

Why do we worry? Worry is the fear of something bad happening, or something good not happening. Worry is often seen as a mental or emotional state, a fixation of thought and feeling in dilemma, but its enforced by physiology: a tightness of breath, a contraction in the pit of the stomach and hormonal changes. . Worry is the corollary of attachment, because without attachment to some thing, person, idea or outcome, what would there be to worry about? . But human attachments are as natural as the sun rising and setting each day, so what to do? . Discrimination is the exercise of insight, the capacity to understand which situations justify worry and which don’t. If we indulge too much in worry about things that are unlikely to occur, there’s little space left for other emotions, such as love, to flourish. . Insight acts like heat to the big block of ice covering our hearts in times of worry. Either through seeing that the attachment itself is unnecessary, or that the probability of a bad outcome is small, the ice starts to break up a little, becoming more fluid, opening the lungs to a full breath and relaxing the solar plexus region. As insight deepens, perhaps through meditation, self-reflection, journal writing or forms of therapy, the state of worry and its physical basis starts to dissipate like water evaporating to vapour. .
