FYI: Meditation is NOT about “emptying” your mind or “being GOOD at it”!! . Some of the BIGGEST total BS things I hear people say about mindfulness are: . ❌It’s about clearing your mind, being super still, controlling your thoughts, being super calm, or “being good at it” in any shape or form.‍♀️❌ . SO MANY PEOPLE say to me that they “have tried meditation, and they know they should do it more”, but they “tried it a few times and they were bad at it”. . Or they do it a bit but they can’t really stick to it cause “it’s not really very me”, or “I’m just not the kind of person who can still my mind”. . “I do it wrong,” they say. “I can’t stop my mind from going round a million miles an hour, I’m just crap at it, I give up. It’s not for me.” . LET ME SAY IT AGAIN FOR THE LOVELY PEOPLE IN THE BACK: “Not doing meditation ‘right’ IS THE PRACTICE.” . If you think you’re doing it wrong cause you keep getting distracted and you “can’t do it” - CONGRATS, you’re doing it RIGHT.✅ . Yay! I know it can be frustrating AF on the days when your brain is a mess, but that still counts. . And isn’t that SO EFFING FREEING?!! Unlike sooo many things we try to do in life, with meditation - every time you show up, you’re doing it. . Every time you try, you’re winning. . Every time you get distracted, come back to focus, you’re training your attention. . And THAT is what trains your brain, and gets you all the amazing juicy benefits such as focus, direction, clarity, confidence & acceptance. . THAT IS THE PRACTICE. Trying, f*cking up, trying again. . Meditation is NOT about emptying your mind, being perfectly calm and still, and being a total zen-like master of perfection, the”kind of person who meditates”. . It’s the ACTUAL opposite! Let’s put it this way, if I was naturally calm and positive, I wouldn’t need meditation. Duh. . So if your mind goes a million miles an hour and you think you’re bad at it and you keep falling off the wagon and getting distracted - congrats. You win. . And THEN That’s when the magic happens. . (Yes, I know I just did, but it’s to illustrate a point, ok?) “Why wouldn’t you hashtag #fruit?”, you may ask (probably suspiciously) because this is obviously a photo of fruit(!) Well, for one, the #fruit hashtag has over 21 million photos catalogued under it. And that is way too many. My photo will be buried 10 or more posts down in seconds - and it is very unlikely that someone will find my post and notice it in an ocean of 21 million other posts like it. It will essentially be...lost in the sauce. Instagram sauce. Mmm, tasty. ⁣ ⁣ Another reason I wouldn’t add #fruit to this photo? You should not be hashtagging about the subject of your photos - you should be hashtagging about your Instagram account as a whole. You want to focus on your niche, and the general theme of your page. You also want to keep in mind a hypothetical profile of who you’d like to attract through these hashtags - so incorporating hashtags your ideal customer/client/follower may be using or searching can be useful, too. ⁣ ⁣ More (free) info: a few days ago, I added some tips on hashtags to my Insta story.
