A few insects from the Serra de Mariola natural park (Alicante): Conehead mantis (Empusa pennata), Assassin Bug (Rhynocoris sp.), Parasteropleurus perezii, Tylopsis liliifolia and Phaneroptera sp. all of them in the same roadside. I was very surprised to see some of these insects. The conehead mantis was an adult individual, which is quite strange as adults usually occur between April and early June. As for the Assassin Bug, I’d never seen one until this year, and I’ve seen three individuals only in the last two months. It seems mysterious when you look forward to seeing a species and then, one day, you start seeing it everywhere. Zerynthia rumina f. canteneri (Staudinger, 1861) ya subí alguna foto de esta especie y en concreto de esta forma. Según las observaciones de @carlbercillo la forma canteneri tiene que ver con la temperatura a la que se desarrolla la pupa, siendo canteneri cuanto más calor pasa la pupa. Es cierto que no por el simple hecho de poner la pupa a mayor temperatura todas saldrán canteneri pero parece ser que tiene cierta correlación. Although the photos are not aesthetically pleasing they represent the three “green” lizards I could find while in Northwestern Spain. The first two images are of Lacerta schreiberi, the species I wanted to see the most. Followed by: Lacerta bilineata and the barely visible Timon lepidus. A wild boar mother (sus scrofa) standing in the middle of springflowers was definetely a highlight during my last trip to spain. What you can't see in the frame is, that she had seven piglets around her, but they were completely covered by the high grass. Seeing the mother peacefully feeding and the piglets capering around her was a wonderful experience. Felines are just fascinating! And photographing the rarest cat species worldwide is just an indescribable experience. I'd like to introduce you to Gallo, a midaged iberian lynx male (lynx pardinus), and one of the only around 500 to 600 specimens that can still be found in the wild. In the late afternoon of my very first day searching for the lynx, I was lucky enough to encounter this stunning guy. I had the opportunity to watch and photograph him for about twenty minutes, before he slowly walked away and dissappeared in some dense bushes. He left me with a big smile on my face and hundreds of pictures to go through. You have to be very lucky to see an iberian lynx in the wild. I am very happy to announce, that I'll return to Andalucia in april! Last year me and my father explored the beautiful landscape of the sierra de Andùjar for three days, and were looking for the iberian lynx (lynx ibericus). Back then I was lucky enough to see two different individuals, besides many other very interesting species. This time I'll stay five days in the area, and I hope to find and photograph the rarest feline worldwide again. The encounter with this stunning lynx male, was probably the most intense, and exciting experience I had last year. All that wouldn't have been possible without our very experienced local guide, who did a fantastic job.
